sounds great. epic solo indeed. I love funk and P-funk. this particular one sounds very p funkyyyy. I know of Slave but I haven't ever really given them a listen. I know I have a burned copy of a comp somewhere, gotta go dig it up

concerning P funk I always felt like Funkadelic had a hard rock edge to it thanks to the awesome guitar work by Eddie Hazel (RIP) and later on young prodigy Michael Hampson

here's an example, a song about the Vietnam war

I like how they combined the guitar with the marching pace

that's Eddie Hazel on lead guitar. the other guitar player on here is Ron Bykowski. there was a third guitar player in the band at the time, Garry Shider, but I can't tell if there are three guitar players on this particular song or just two

Its really hard to define Funkadelic in a genre, maybe funk rock fusion. I enjoy most of their work, including March to Witches Castle. They had some great musicians

I've always loved this song. didn't know that was Michael McDonald! kind of pissed at myself for selling a lot of my music back in 2013 to finance a trip to NZ, although the trip was great. Steely Dan was in that batch I sold too.

    Emerson Lake & Palmer

prog rock, but not like Asia (Palmer, the drummer, was in this band later) or Styx, Yes or King Crimson

I like their take on classical music. it's bombastic stuff

their acoustic tracks sort of make me think of Pink Floyd

apparently they were quite the draw live too with spectacular stuff like a piano hanging suspended in the air, turning around, being played. and a rotating drum platform. guess they took motion sickness pills before each show
