Thread: Yall got THE BLUES?

  1. #1

    Default Yall got THE BLUES?

I dip into blues once in a while. it's not always 'my baby left me' followed by a dang dang dang DANG blues chord lol even though I dig that too

today I was listening to a BB King comp that has some hilarious songs. IDK if I posted about this before, I don't think so

yeah you don't mess with THE KING

so, yall got some blues to share?

btw I listened to that early early blues (Blind Willie McTell and 'em) too but sometimes it's a chore to get through because of extremely rough recording and impossible to be improved on lousy mastering tbh. I do like some tracks of those guys but sometimes it starts sounding kind of sameish. you see I'm no specialist right

If you can't dig this track, you got problems.

^^Arthur Brown is new to me. thank you for mentioning him, I'm off on a YouTube hunt for some of his material in ten minutes or so. I like Alice Cooper so this should be right up my alley.

Actually Arthur Brown was kind of a one hit wonder..."Fire" is fire though

^^very visual track w/ good story telling. I might be buying 'Billion Dollar Babies' and 'Killer'. from what I read about it BDB is a (loose) concept album about people's perversions, right? sounds interesting

I hadn't realized just how bluesy the first version of (Peter Green's) Fleetwood Mac was.

    I'm listening to this comp

    https://www.discogs.com/Fleetwood-Ma...release/921011

which is a real bargain online w/ large seller platforms (I paid $6)

and it is truly some excellent blues

    here's two tracks

this one's a bit more traditional

while this one's got some excellent guitar work

value for price is insane w/ this comp, I'd say it's a steal. 20 tracks of top shelf blues and guitar playing

apparently Peter Green solo (after he left the Mac) is also worth checking out, but not all of the albums. mostly the lyrics were written by his brother. for now I'm sticking to this comp and 3 early Mac albums I've got coming in next week
