From what interview sounds like doom never stopped rapping, as he was showing up on stretch and bob as early as 97 freestyling, as well as all those singles that dropped 97-99
his album was most likely finished already as it ended up dropping a month after the pillage
it sounds like he was more influenced by the energy of the album versus the sound itself. Anyone who makes music thenselves prolly knows what im takking about; ie.great hip hop inspired one to write more geeat hip hop.
Dude said doom was wild depressed and while he was making music, he was still reeling from subroc dying. Benn said this is the album that flipped his energy and had him believing in himself again to run with the character 100% from there on out instead of just a one off side project he had planned since a kid (another interesting fact fron the interview).
Also, idk if anyone heard the stretch and bobbito freestyle from 99 doom is on that they just recentlynout up, doom is asking for that cappadonna shit in the freestyle. Good lil tidbit.
