So a lot of these ppls 'spontaneous beefs' are being typed out by two people in the same room. You can't say what company you're signed to. You can't acknowledge them if they're mentioned. But you can say you're signed to a company you're not actually signed to. So someone that's 'signed to 300 ent' may actually be signed quarters195650 (they have names like that) but will be told to say 300 because 300 just sells the name.
They collect all the money that comes to you then pay you after. If you debate the amount you're being paid you have to give them 90 days to audit themselves before presenting you with the paperwork that shows you were paid fairly. If you want to end the contract early you'll never get your money/name/socials/masters if the contract is ending and you don't write and sign a specific paper in on the 10th day before the contract ends, the continues for another 10 years. If you stop rapping and get a 9/5 your paychecks go to that company first and the split is the same as what you signed your music away for.
Then if you use any 'profane language or behavior' in public or in your music they fine you. And they have to approve all of your songs before it drops and they can legally tell you to add certain lyrics (which is, i think, were we got all of those rappers advertising perscription drugs and 'luxury brands'). They don't fine you immediately if you cuss or act stupid and will actually encourage you to cuss and act stupid so that if you try to fight them in any capacity they throw those fines at you or when they steal your money they'll say it was fees for cussing.
The spam it out to 1000000000 indie rappers and if 10 sign they get what they want. So when Lil Nas X came out with his first song he's ever done in life and it's doing millions and he's dressing like a twink and has collabs with milly cryus dad and is on good morning America in 5 days of attempting to be a musician. It's obvious what time it was. Even the 'outrage' about the song is manufactured. Nobody cares.
