    Default Do over albums

There’s a lot of Wu albums, especially this century, that we’d like to see get a do over…change the beats, features, etc. The first that comes to mind for me is Wu Massacre. That’s gotta be the biggest disappointment in Wu history, as far as albums are considered. That should’ve been a slam dunk project, even the videos they made to hype the album were amazing. Remember those gritty videos inspired by the movie Seven? Anyway, the album was too short, recycled verses, recycled beats, lackluster beats. Basically the art covers were the best thing about it.

Other one is Shaolin vs Wu Tang and Big Doe Rehab. Not bad, but had the potential to be a lot better. In the end, it’s always about the lackluster beats

Uncontrolled Substance (maybe not a "do over" not a "do what was originally done") and Tical 0

All Masta Killa albums after his second.

    U-God's solo debut.

    Tical 0 w/ RZA production.

    Cappa's 2nd album

Sunz Of Man's first official album.

I like Uncontrolled Substance for what it is. (OG beats would have been even better of course, but it's still a dope album to me.) Likewise, I love Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang. FILA needs better beats though.

    I agree on Wu Massacre.

U-God' 2nd album & Hillside scramblers are beyond repair.

Wholeheartedly agree with Goldenchild on Wu Massacre. Definitely don't judge an album by its cover...

My nomination for a redux is Immobilarity. Bitterly disappointed with that bloated piece of trash.

Keep: Sneakers, Live from New York and The Table.

    Bin the rest.

Turn the intro skit beat (jurassic Park sample) into a full song.

98/99 True Master was in his prime. Rae should've got some jewels from True for this project.

A Better Tomorrow - It's not a terrible album and it has some high points but the bulk of the album is based on those meandering live band instrumentals from RZA. Also some of the song concepts and hooks are weak. Some of the rapping was Wu on autopilot.

Strum did a great job of reimagining ABT lo-fi style:

We've all said this before but they should have marked out a few months at the Wu mansion and vibed and knocked it out. I think it took RZA years to finish, and it has that low energy of being pieced together and contrived.

Disappointment : almost every Wu album after Supreme Clientele, they lost that raw feeling they had between 93-97.

Sunz of Man's Last Shall Be First is a classic - but the sequencing is off. Starts kind of lacklustre but builds to a crescendo.

Wu-Massacre was a missed opportunity. Just feels like an album of leftovers and remixes (which it is).

Better Tomorrow has grown on me over time, notwithstanding a few missteps and bad choices.

I was thinking about this. Because you have album that are just really weak or uninspired. And you have some albums that are good, but just don't cut it. Which ones deserve a do over? Would you rather take the weakest one, or the stronger one?

Because I think both would take a lot of work. If you have something that is already good, making is timeless or great would require a lot of tinkering. But with a weak album, you basically have a new canvas, that is if it can be saved at all.

I think the W and Tical. The W was too much of a change for the Wu and Gravel Pit is the worst Wu song of all time lol. Tical needs to be done over again because the beats/sound were too hard for Meth. Rza was on a Gravediggaz tip at the time and Meth isn’t that type of rapper.
