Thread: Got My Mind Made Up (with Inspectah Deck) [better quality]

Default Got My Mind Made Up (with Inspectah Deck) [better quality]

    https://youtu.be/5Dqa3WtKkXI

This is my attempt at recreating the unreleased original version of “Got My Mind Made Up”, adding Inspectah Deck’s verse which wasn’t included on the retail version (he reused it in a freestyle, which is what I used when making this). I also added Method Man’s censored words.

Adding Deck's verse from the freestyle has been done before but new AI technology for extracting acapellas has been launched since so I figured I’d make an updated version, and it did turn out better than the old fanmade edit.

Since there’s rumours about it being 2Pac’s call to take INS off this track, I suggest you watch the video “Daz Dillinger: Tupac and Dr.Dre' get into it !” if you haven’t. Daz (who produced the track) explains why Deck wasn’t on the retail version, the verse was on a different ADAT which was lost. This explains why they left the adlibs on, it was on the ADAT with the other verses - if they actually wanted to take Deck off the track there’s no way they would’ve left the adlibs on.

    Props to:
VojtaNesvadba for giving me the idea to create this
TERMINATED aka Civilian3030 for giving me the idea to add Method Man’s unedited lyrics to the CDQ version
Esoteric for ripping the “PLO Style” vinyl, with the freestyle where Deck re-used his verse
underdog for creating the acapella using lalal.ai
Whoever put together the picture I used for the video

Always thought Pac thought it was too long, which makes sense with Rage missing. But I remember something about the tape being missing. lol.

Thanks for this one. AI really has taken leaps with creating acapellas.

That sounded good, what AI program did you use?

Nice remix but isn't that Deck verse from the track called PLO Style/Common Denominator ?

dope! but need to splice in the infamous "INS The Rebel" that precedes the ad-libs at the end of the album version

What is the source of the uncensored Meth verse? I know I've heard it before but never knew where it was from

Not to labour the point but that PLO track with the deck verse sounds like it would pre date anything the Wu would have done with 2 pac? The track sounds pretty old IMO at least the ones I’ve heard?

Appreciate it man, it's a website called lalal.ai

Thanks, that's correct! Deck used the same verse on the original track though, which is why I used the PLO Style take for the recreation (since the actual take is unavailable)

Thanks! The reason I didn't include that one is because Redman is talking at the same time! I did get a request to make a fadeout instead, since the adlibs are already are heard during Deck's verse, I'll post it when it's done!

I'm not sure actually, do you want the original file I used? I made an acapella of the uncensored version and just added the 2 words, since it's worse quality

That is true, I can't say which was done first (Got My Mind Up was originally made for Dogg Food which was released mid 95 so it was done in 94 or 95) - Deck might've re-used the verse on Got My Mind Up though

It was the same verse though, hear Kurupt quote Deck here: https://youtu.be/wXXp1NeOi5A

Kurupt also mentions that he believes it was Pac's call to take Deck off. He's speculating though, since he thought Daz was the one who sneaked in the INS adlibs and Daz said in the previous vid that he wasn't there when the track was completed with 2Pac. That's why I believe Daz's story, also it only makes sense to leave the adlibs on if the verse is lost

    Thanks Brain

To me have Wu and 2pac on the same song like that is silly in the first place anyway? It’s obvious that 2pac isn’t lyrical like that and the song sounds weird to me?

^^ I remember a fan-made edit years ago that just had Meth, Redman and Deck verses on it... I bumped that version for a while and thought it was much better, more of a straight up Wu track. It was a good few years ago though so the sound quality on the Deck verse was terrible.

    Peace!

I see what you mean about the difference approach to lyrics in general but to me it was a dope collabo over a great beat

    @brainghost thanks again

I hear what you're saying, completely different styles of rap - though I do enjoy the track. Mef, Red and INS had the best verses imo.

Someone requested a version that fades out with no INS ad-libs since they're already heard during his verse!
