This is just a teaser for the album that drops tomorrow. He released a 'The Heart' part before each of his major releases.

The album delves into some heavy topics - family trauma, child abuse, relationships with women, his trans family members...

Not always an easy album to listen to, and he can come off as preachy at times but its very high quality. The production is varied, highly rich and immersive and the songs are smart and layered and demand your full attention.

I can't say for sure I'm going to revisit it a lot, but I already like it more than TPAB.

See I think TPAB is peak Kendrick. That's his best album IMO. All his albums are different. This album is artistically great, but I can't vibe to it....

Agreed. TPAB is still my favorite kendrick album.
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.

^ I agree. When I started listening to Hip Hop albums they usually didn't have less than 16 tracks and sometimes it was up to 25.

People born after 1990 have the worst takes on hip-hop and movies. Then again, in the '90s I used to get into heated arguments with the old heads about why Big L and Big Pun were better than Kool G Rap, so.......idk

Most fans aren't saying its that good. Anyway we don't know if the album will age well.

But yeah you have to count the generational thing - musically and culturally Kendrick just makes more sense to the younger generation, especially with him addressing all the current social issues.

I was vibing to a few tracks earlier - count me out and die hard.
