Default Birth rates are declining in the western world

The Hound was mocked mercilessly on here for not wanting to waste his life by having children and a nagging bitch but whaddayaknow this is a common trend amongst 20 and 30 somethings across the western world:

Australian fertility rate hits record low

Germany: Number of young people falls to record low

The Mystery of the Declining U.S. Birth Rate

Japan records its largest natural population decline as births fall

Obviously birth rates are through the roof in the undesirable nations and eventually the western world is going to have a mass migration movement to counter an ageing population but that it isn't my problem, I'm here for a good time not a long time.

Thoughts on the declining birth rate? Should Europe increase the immigration to counter lower birth rates or is it good for the world that humans aren't reproducing in record numbers?

We've discussed it on here a few times. Across cultural and national lines, the wealthier and more educated a person is, the less kids they have. The poorest nations kind of expect that not all their kids are going to make it to adulthood.

As far as immigration, the US and Canada already have a steady supply of immigrants.

Japan is interesting because as a country they're relatively xenophobic and into their own culture. Its going to be hard to sell the Japanese on africans or westerners immigrating. Their population declines by half a million a year though, it'll be interesting to see how they deal with it because its going to cause big problems fast.

China has the same issue, their population may decline by half this century.

All over the world theres a growing dearth of workers in the trades which is already fucking over the general population in the UK and US. Basically wealthy countries will have to allow a lot more immigrants over the next 20 years, but those tactics won't work forever given that places like India and various African countries have steadily growing economies.

There will probably also be full scale immigration crises once places like Bangladesh are underwater.

And then at a certain point this century a lot of jobs will get automated or become redundant and a full scale societal shift happens, the consequences of which are totally unpredictable.

The wealthier more educated white person is less likely to have kids. Everyone else still does regardless.

Its a byproduct of christianity and the elimination of the concept of 'lineage' in the west by it. Hard to explain but theres a great vid on it on Youtube i saw the other day.

Chinas issue is communist policies which are the grandsons of christianity but thats also hard to explain.

It is more prevalent in some countries than others, but yes statistically it does work across racial lines. More people decide to not have kids, or just have less kids than their parents regardless and its a documented long term trend which mostly reflects economics and social mores (which can include religion and politics but is not limited to that).
