You think he'll get in 2024? Hes very dislikeable. Its like conservatives are the worst possible representatives for conservatives.

Seems like he still has fervent supporters, but I know a lot of republicans are over it.

I'm not American, or politically conservative so my 2 cents might not be that accurate.

He surprised me in 2016 so I'm staying away from predictions lol. I also thought he was gonna get re-elected last time around so I got that wrong too

One thing I think stands to reason is that he WILL run again. Just think of the temporary immunity from all sorts of court cases that a second term would grant him. But who knows whether he'll make it to Republican nominee again. It might be DeSantis or Pence.

There's no predicting this guy lol.

Democrats are probably fucked if they run with Biden again, no matter who's on the opposing side.

America comes across as divided and radicalised so there’s a chance he can return.

Honestly America needs to be muted and ignored for a while until they sort their shit out. We’ve just elected the best government in the world while the Americans are wheeling out a dementia patient as president lol a little time out to have them re-group will do them good.

If he runs he'll win. Mainly because the party is now shaped around him and a lot of republicans need to show they're pro-trump to win. Running against him is politically risky for a lot of them and his support is still there. Especially since Biden's failures validate him. Ppl will publically say they don't like him and secretly like him because it's uncouth to support him, so asking ppl may not be a good gauge.

This FBI shit is a horrible precedent though. You're not supposed to mess with former presidents in any regard and now that this is an option, it's going to effect how ppl will occupy the office. The US pres is very literally the head of a criminal empire and a big part of the flexibility of the position is unspoken immunity from punishment afterwards.

Trump can make more money and be his super lazy self by not running and being president. So, I doubt he runs again, also if he would happen to lose, how does he talk himself out of being a two time loser another go round.

I would think they would only search his residence if they knew for a fact there was something that would implicate him without a doubt on some serious charges. That's the wildcard in all of this. The powers to be want him and influence out. This maybe a play to get him to go away quietly.

more money will do nothing for him. He's an ego psycho and there's no bigger trip than being the president. 'The powers that be' will kick back so it will be a test of the 'extent' of their ability. I agree w/ you on the motives of the raid. My conspiracy theory senses tell me that they're trying to find something they can use to tell him to sit out the next election with but it's hard to blackmail and old man with 0 shame.

Unless it's just me, I can't see anyone who will run that anyone will care about. I think Trump and Bernie overheated the polity and now everyone will just seem 'meh' if it's business as usual.

obviously I'm not as well informed as Americans on US politics. from the outside looking in through media reports (eh) it looks like Ron DeSantis is a darling of the Republicans and has a high profile?

I was just looking up on Wikipedia to see if there's ever been a president from Florida. turns out there hasn't. the country might not have survived lol

I was also just looking up DeSantis chances and this article came up

it's just betting but maybe it gives us a feel for what 'the people are thinking right now' IDK

DeSantis is a better option over Trump by a mile. For the most part , no one voted for Biden, they voted out Trump. DeSantis would probably win in a landslide over Biden, Harris, or whoever. Watch the Right nominate Trump again though, they are the anti education/science party. Their strength isn't in anything that involves common sense.

Sources close to the FBI investigation told the Washington Post the raid was meant to turn up, amongst other things, missing documents on nuclear weapons

Some armed guy in Cincinatti tried to enter the FBI offices down there, he was shot and died. IDK maybe the guy wasn't too crazy about the FBI raid. Could have other reasons though.

I see DeSantis is a big antivaxxer, but if covid finally goes away then right wingers won't care. Then hes basically just a watered down version of Trump - one who doesn't say things like he wants Lebron James to have a sex change and join his WNBA team. Right wingers might as well stick with Trump for the entertainment value. But then maybe the problem is they don't think hes a clown, they think hes a serious politician.

Never understood what the big deal was with the anti mask, anti vax movement. It looks basically like a way for disenfranchised people who don't understand science or politics to pretend that they have some sort of agency in their own lives. You don't, and giving your grandmother the flu won't change that.

not to sound like palehorse but US news is not the news lol. Idk if it's different in Europe, they all seem to have gone to shit, but US news, especially the organs with international reach, are very sentimental and establishment. Said establishment is very detached from reality so someone like DeSantis - in their eyes - is a viable candidate, but actual republicans hate him, ppl like him, and either want Trump or a Trump-like person who acts a little more mature but not completely. The mass of the republican party are basically human raccoons and for years the humans in that party have worn raccoon suits to appeal to them. But Trump popped out of the trashcan a full blown real raccoon and now they can see 'the difference' and want their own raccoon kind to represent them.

The establishment media can't call it because they're hoping a raccoon suit guy will make it work but it's too late and they won't admit it. This also happened in the Democratic party and Hillary failing woefully was the first sign. Before she was a shoe-in. So CNN, BBC etc are going to keep talking about the politicians with 0 social media presence and 0 appeal to regular ppl because those are their people, but that time is up. They literally had to do herculean levels of rigging to get Biden in.
