Rappers born after 1994 are mostly awful and it’s only going to get worse. Cordae was supposedly going to become the next great one but that hasn’t happened.

Big Pun’s son (Chris Rivers) and RA the Rugged Man’s dude (AFRO) should’ve blown up but they didn’t because they’re too lyrical and rap fans are kinda dumb now

There has to be a specific reason OP made the thread. Which rapper? If its just "I'm old and I don't like these kids” thats pretty boring and its what literally every generation thinks. Your parents can't stand the trash you think is good either.

I'm not even saying I love a lot of mainstream trap, just a little bit, but there are 2 ways of rating music - by the artists standards and goals, and by the individual and collective listener experience. Its dumb to compare most of the new rappers to the old ones because they have completely different aims musically. A lot of new ”Hip Hop” is basically a separate genre at this point.

I can start. I don't like Megan or Jack Harlow. 2 supremely unoriginal and uninspiring rappers coasting off their image and marketing.

Megan has an excellent ear for beats. Her beat choices are on point. But yeah, she is a cliche' female rapper. Jack Harlow gives hope to the dorky guys that they can make it one day, because he is one of them.

My mother asked me the other day if I knew who the Jack Harrow guy is. So that means he must have been on the View or Ellen show. Peace

I shit on Migos all the time but flow wise they are solid and they have some catchy songs. I only know some of their singles. Anything autotune, IDC what artist, is an automatic fail for me, so unoriginal. Ye perfected T-Pain's shtick on '808' with emotional content that fit autotune. In fact I might listen to more autotune in the vain of sad sad stuff like 808 where it's almost like alt rock in terms of emo content, but I haven't come across it. Wayne ran with autotune okay for a little while but then he completely overdid it and ruined himself as an artist for me. Same for Future.

Even the way I discuss autotune makes me realize I'm old as fuck but I don't care.

Popular female rappers these days are Lil' Kim/Foxy Brown/Eve clones with admittedly more self written verses, esp. Lil Kim content - which is basically Biggie in a female porn star mindframe. Non EDM singles Minaj was good, I don't check for Megan, Doja, Cardi B and 'em

that DaBaby guy has some fun songs and vids

I hate that Fettie Wap dude who was like 3 or 5 trends ago already

there's good comedy material in a domestic scene where hella old parents are trying to get their 90s hip hop head son into the new trends 'Yo son peep that new Gunna. It's lit!' and the son is like 'Turn that racket off I'm trying to listen to some cuts from NORE and yall are all over the track like Clue with your Gunna shouting'

Doja Cat is awesome. Perfect mix of pop and rap. She even said her next album will be all rap with production by Alchemist. Not sure if that will really happen though.

There is a trend of other interchangeable females that all dress like robot hookers from the future and rap about money and luxury brands which is really unappealing. They pretend its sexual empowerment but who are they kidding, its softcore porn for submissives.
