Back then Theroux was still with the BBC and his docs were bought by national tv in Belgium and the Netherlands because of it. Public tv stations buy a lot of each other programs, esp the UK ones. Theroux docus from around that period all aired in prime time slots and were later broadcast again. The nazi twin one was the most famous of the bunch. Theroux was at peak popularity.

Recent Theroux documentaries all still get shown in good time slots on Belgian tv and he gets interviewed in the tv magazines when he has a new documentary series out.

Those Louis Theroux docos were great. I remember in the first one he did on the porn industry, the porn company who were taking him behind the scenes wanted him to film a scene for them, and he very nearly did, lolz. In the end tho, he wasn't game.

I remember in the follow up one on the porn industry he just stood there watching Tommy Gunn fucking some blonde bitch, I forget her name, and then after it he told Tommy he did a really good job, lolololololol.
