Awful. NPR had a special about him yesterday. So, it's only Q-Tip alive?
Loyalty is Royalty. Strength and Loyalty
I am glad that he died knowing that De La Soul's music is going to make it to streaming services.
Too bad he did not make it to actually see it happen.
Yeah i think u might b getting ur native tongues groups mixed up, ironman.
I was playing some non album biggie stuff tonight and pulled some comps from my collection upstairs. I bought this one CD for Party & Bullshit (OST was unavailable down here) and never really played the rest of the album because I'm a dimb cunt like that. It's pretty fucking amazing.
It's got this
YT also has this nice remix that completely alters the vibe of the original version
equally dope
From the little cd booklet :
"This early DE LA track appeared on ltd. 12's of 'Me myself & I' back in 89. Taken from the rarely seen movie soundtrack 'Hell on 1st Ave'this bonus cut tickles the ear with clever word play over a 'Mary Mary' type dry drum break & crazy speeded upvocal samples. A zany little curiosity!"
This CD comp is called 'Untoucable Hip Hop' and is clearly not 100% official though it's a real CD and not a CDr nor is it a mixtape. The 'label' is Vinyl Ressurection' (cute spelling mistake in the label name) and it's got a bootleggy looking catalog number called 'VR001CD' lol.
The tracklist is interesting with 12 tracks culled from "rare soundtrack 12s, DJ promo only cuts, the best underground tracks & dope remixes on phat 50 minute CD." lol once again
I imagine just about everything on this album, which I bought in the late 90s in a regular record store, is now readily available, but it plays incredibly well with this cool tracklist (see below). I must have been really dumb for not giving this album any play back in the day apart from the Biggie track
Tracklist

What's more - De La Soul
Jazz thing video mix - Gangstarr

Nice little write up in the booklet too! The love for the songs really shines through.

Worth looking for online?
RIP Trugoy.

Retired.
I'm a bit embarrassed to say I don't know much about De La...if I was going to listen to one album what would you recommend?
RIP
