A lot of people didnt really like this album but to me it was pretty decent. Of course its not a "cuban linx" but its good in its own way. It had some great tracks like..."Yea Yo"... "Casablanca"..."Live in NY" ..and my personal favorite...."Sneakers"...that beat is dope as hell and Rae killed it!!! I would pick this over "The Lex Diamonds Story".

"One arm bandit..stab companions with intricate sentences...battle crews single- handed..with cannons that blow you from here to other planets."

Go buy the acapella version of this album (if there is such a thing?).
Short review: weak production (except for Live From NY, Casablanca and The Table), great lyrics by Raekwon.

LOL @ the guy praising RZA's production on this album. RZA did jack shit on this album.l

I don't know why this albums gets so much hate. I know that none of the beats on that album compare to what RZA produced in Cuban Linx, but most of them are aight and good.

I liked most of the album but i gotta admit that it has some HORRIBLE tracks.

    I'll give that album a 7/10.

shit was fire 4.5/5 in my book.. u cant go and think this will be another cuban linx
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.

i gotta agree. Sneakers is the best track but the album is wack. Not what you would expect from Raekwon. I think his verses were sup par. If you compare it to some of the stuff he was saying on the Wu's collective tracks at the time, you would swear that there were 2 different emcees.

The album also suffers not just from a lack or Rza beats but a lack of Wu-type beats altogether. rae tries to go for a different approach to gain a bigger audience but fails.

He sorted himself out a little bit when he released "the smith bros".

can i ask the people who rated this as excellent, if you ranked this album amogst all the other Wu albums where do you think it would fit?

Its just a lot less than we would expect from the Wu and Lexx Diamonds.

I think every review it got backed up this idea.

The Table with Masta Killa, the only good song on this album, I don't question Rae's skills, but the beats stink like a fuckin' fart
