One thing this tournament has shown is that there is a genuine lack of good number 9's. A lot of teams played without a real striker, there really aren't that many good strikers around anymore.

^^goes to show how France missed Benzema

I was surprised by Lewandowski, a great number 9 as well, not shining in this tournament

Uruguayans like Cavani & Suarez are excellent number 9s. I didn't spend time watching the Copa Americana (there's only so many hours in a day lol) so I have no idea how they performed. I think Cavani scored more goals when he was still with Napoli?

I have to say Portugal had an easy road to the finals...italy germany france spain were all on one side....Portugal just played sound footy...nothing fancy...its crazy they won this euro with a team that doesnt boast stars like it did back in 2004 with the likes of Figo Rui Costa Deco a young cr7

thing is since 2000 portugal has made it to the semi finals , i think 1 quarterfinals in 2008 of the Euro cup tourney

It was fun watching Wales and Iceland upset everyone

All the Messi smack talk now is gonna be off the charts

CR7 wins at the international level

I really thought germany was gonna take this tourney

Portugal's Euro 2000 squad was the best, unfortunate for the Abel Xavier penalty that cost them but like pretty much every tournament they lost to the first good team they played.

For all the depth Germany have they had too many injuries and nobody to replace Gomez adequately.

Germany should have picked atleast another striker in the squad. They just needed one guy to stay in the box, Gomez does that well. A backup would have been helpful. When Muller was upfront he came in deep too many times causing Germany to have no one left in the box. All they needed was a body inside the box to target, his quality wouldn't have mattered.

In the final once Portugal brought on Eder they were able to hold the ball up, cause France problems in the air. Eder is a below average striker but look at the difference he made in the final.

Well they had Max Kruse but he got himself got banned. There's not much after that either. Kevin Kuranyi is also banned, Stefan Kießling has never been in favour with Löw, Kevin Volland is another wide man who can play up front. Sandro Wagner had a breakout season with Darmstadt but it would take huge balls to pick someone like him he's not really international standard. For all their talent in midfield and out wide they don't have many options up front.

Götze went back to Dortmund. He's had a rough time in Munich and it will Only get worse, he's not particularly welcome in Dortmund. He will need to hit the ground running or the fans will hate him more. They need to re-invest wisely in to the squad.

I can't believe Pogba will cost £100m for MU to buy after getting £800k for his departure compensation lol that's the worst deal in history. Fergie was poor in the transfer market in his final years

Mario Gomez left Besiktas because of the coup lol

Yeah this is fucking annoying, we are having a awful offseason. To think we become champions, we have an excellent young team, the best coach in Turkey, a brand spanking new stadium, gonna be in the champs league next season but all our players want to leave. We lost our best Turkish player, Gomez is now gone, our number 10 Jose Sosa also wants to leave because of terror, our motor in midfield wants out. We can't buy replacements because of financial FairPlay, we got only fucking Quaresma left.

While guys like Sniejder, Podolski and Muslera who play for cash strapped and awful Galatasaray all want to stay. I just don't get it.

The fans are calling for the Chairman to get a replacement Mario who isn't scared of fireworks lol.
