    Harlem emcee Black Rob was sentenced to up to seven years in prison on Thursday, he was given the maximum term for his particular grand larceny conviction. Rob (born Robert Ross) was arrested in November 2004 for stealing $6,000 in jewelry and $300 cash from a cardiologists' hotel room on New York's Upper West Side. Authorities claim Ross was caught casing the hotel by On the Ave Hotel's security cameras. A representative for the Manhattan District Attorney's office said Ross was given the maximum sentence because he broke an agreement to turn himself in January 24th.

    The Bad Boy Records artist was arrested on a fugitive warrant February 24th. He will reportedly begin serving the sentence immediately. Ross completed a six month prison stint in September 2004 for missing child support payments. In June of 2000 Ross did time for a weapons possession charge he incurred in May, when undercover NYPD officers allegedly witnessed him pass his passenger a 22-caliber handgun after pulling over to sign autographs.

    Black Rob released his sophomore LP, The Black Rob Report, in October 2005. Black Rob made the first post Notorious B.I.G. splash at Bad Boy in February of 2000 with his hit single "Whoa." The song's popularity helped spike sales for his debut, Life Story, which peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 in March of 2000, after being in stores for about six months (September 28th, 1999).
