CLASSIC Hip-Hop Albums of the new Milennium....

Yo if you could think of, in your opinion, the classic hip hop albums that have dropped in the new millenium(thats the year 2000 and later for those who dont know) what would you pick???

The late 80's and most of the 90's had some real good TIMELESS hip hop albums and marked a golden era in hip hop, but now the shit after 2000 has been stale IMO.....not much quality hip hop,......

So what are your classic albums after 2000? I can only think of these.....

1) Common-BE(comes to my mind first cuz its the most recent)
2) Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek-Reflection Eternal(which came out in 2000 so it barely makes the list....)
3) Jay-Z-Blueprint 1
4)Ghostface Killah-Supreme Clientele
5) Nas-Stillmatic(yea i think its a classic even tho it has that shitty track Braveheart Party.....)

Honorable mention goes to :Jay-Z's Black Album, Kanye West College Dropout, and Game's Documentary although I really dont think these can be considered classics......

Man theres not much more I can think of.....maybe someone can refresh my memory but thats all i got......

Hmmm while I think alot of those albums you guys picked are good or great albums, most of them arent 5 mic material or timeless classics except for a few.......I forgot about Stankonia thats definately up there, as is maybe the Ownerz by Gangstarr though it doesnt match up to Moment of Truth......

and btw, no Post-Forever Wu-Tang group album belongs on that list.....sorry....the W and Iron Flag arent classics by any stretch......

But man if you think of the 90's that decade had MANY timeless classic by the halfway mark of the decade compared to where we are now.....

Dude, I co-sign your list..........compared to the 1990's when it seemed like Classic hip hop albums came out every month......the 2000's has been fuckin weak, due to the corporate commericalism of hip hop.......


I would say the only true albums worth calling Classics in the 2000's are:

1) Jay-Z BLUEPRINT (changed the rap game, everyone uses those soul samples now)
2) Talib Kweli REFLECTION ETERNAL (an album that actually has a consise feel, unlike most albums in the 2000's)
3) GHOSTFACE KILLAH SUPREME CLIENTELE (last classic Wu Tang record, ghosts lyrics are bannanas)
4) kanye West - College Dropout (Kanye actaully has something to say, breath of fresh air)
5) Common - Be (an album with a feel throughout)
6) Outkast - Stankonia ( maybe not the best album from Outkast, but damn good, always creative and different)
7) 50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Trying (hate him or love it, this album was huge)
8) Blackalicious - Nia
9) Del Tha Funkee Homosapien - Both Sides of the brain (del rips this album)
10) Eminem - The Marshall MAthers LP (hate all you want, nobody made an album like this before)
11) Jay Z - Black Album (this album was good, dont front)
12) The Game - Documentary (this one may not deserve to be here, but the beats on this album are some of the best ever on one album)

I think this list is good.....all these albums changed the game somehow, or were creative in someway.

I'm an old skool guy, and in my opinion, there hasn't been many CLASSIC albums out in a long while, if any.

But there are a few which are just great:

Large Professor - 1st Class
7L and Esoteric - Dangerous Connection
Vakill - Kill 'Em All (I think this one was from 2001 or earlier? Can't remember)
Masta Ace - Disposable Arts
Arsonists - Date of Birth
Royal Fam - Yesterday, Today, Iz Tomorrow
Mass Influence - The Underground Science
Jedi Mind Tricks - Violent By Design
Binary Star - Masters of the Universe
Afu-Ra - Body of the Life force

Back in 1999, there were several classic albums But yeah, a lot of the stuff now just sounds the same and basically bores me with the lame sounding beats, though, still some of the lyrics are on point. But for me, beats are just as important. Beats went through a massive change, and it was for the worse in my opinion. Even a lot of the underground shit sounds too similar to these wack commercial beats you hear on TV!

Thats just my opinion on things I guess.
