If they left off most of they shitty guest appearances it would've been damn close to classic... Just replace the subpar NorthStar affiliates with some guest-spots by RZA, ODB, Meth, Masta Killa... That shit coulda been 5 Mic material.

Sure I would say 50 CENTS GET RICH OR DYING is classic over GRIND DATE........if you like it or not......that album was like thre soundtrack to 2003......you could not walk down the street without hearing it.......kinda like when CHRONIC came out in 1992.....

GRIND DATE was a good record........but it aint even DE LA's best record........like it came out a year ago and it is almost forgotten already

To me, a classic has to be more enjoyable than it is ground breaking.

Get Rich or Die Trying might have sold a lot of records, hell, I'll admit I bought it, but that doesn't mean it was good. I liked it in 2003, but I listened to a lot of garbage then, and when I replayed it at the begining of this year I hated it. It's not a classic if it sucks 2 years later.

    Out of this list:

    supreme clientele
    madvillainy
    iron flag
    be
    no said date
    marshall mathers lp
    revolutionary vol. 2
    the blueprint
    stillmatic

I have Supreme Clientele, Iron Flag, No Said Date, Marshal Mathers LP & Stillmatic, and I wouldn't say any of them are classics. Supreme Clientele is the closest to a classic in that list, but to me that's more of a very good album than a 10/10 album. It has some skippable tracks and the skits are annoying.

Iron Flag is no way a classic. I only like a few songs on it, and where that might be opinion, you can ask most people about Iron Flag and I doubt many would think of it as classic. For Wu, some of the songs straight out sucked (Chrome Wheels, Soul Power) and the lyrics on most songs were nothing special.

No Said Date is good, but not all the songs are great, I find the first few songs pretty boring, and Masta Killa is hardly a classic material MC, just a great MC every now and then.

Marshal Mathers has it's skippables. I liked this when I first got it a few years ago, but now when I listen to it, most of the tracks are boring.

Stillmatic is good lyrically, but the beats aren't great. To me it's a consistantly good album but nothing really goes about good.

I don't grade a album based off what a dumbed down socitey is going to say and I don't grade off what pushed somebodies boundaries. Ready 2 Die is great but not classic IMO- due to wack skits, and "Big Poppa" which ignores the concept of the album, that he had going on. U could tell he did that song strictly for the sales, so the album looses artistic points for it. It got 4.5 mics when it first came out for a reason. And 10 years from now I will definetly be talkin bout Death is Certain. Not sure about AZiatic, but its still classic. Popular opinion don't determine a classic. Seems like only the movie industry understands this.

hmm, yeah grind date isnt de la's best offering but it is a hell of alot better then some of the shit that has been suggested. you obviously feel 50's style and i like some of the beats on get rich or die trying, but classic? the guy can hardly string two words together and im not saying that cause im a hater of commercial shit, its just a fact. get rich or die trying may have had an impact on the marketability of hip hop but it aint a modern day classic or even a good album.

    possibly classic:

    JMT-visionz of gandhi
    Mk-NSD
    Gza-legend of the liquid swords
J5-power in no. and quality control
all i can think of now, but these arent really classic, just ill albums.
