Hey everyone,
I never officially introduced myself on this forum even though I've been around for a while and even when I did sign up I didn't post a lot on here. So I thought I'd take a minute to tell my story on how I got into Wu. I was only a young cat when the Wu was coming out so I actually didn't get the 36 Chambers album until a while after it was out.
I had a friend who was thick into the gangsta rap coming from the West Coast and he also had that Gravediggaz shit in there. Gravediggaz was where it all started for me. It was the first hiphop CD I ever bought. I listened to that shit everyday, I loved it. Being a young cat though, I didn't have much cash so I signed up to that BMG joint where you could get like 8 CD's for the price of 1 because I wanted to get more into the hiphop and see what I was missing. I didn't have no cable or internet and grew up in a small town so my resources to finding out about stuff was limited. I didn't know fuck all about any of the groups though, so I just picked a few albums from their list and said, "Who knows, maybe it'll be good." Well, I hit the fucking jackpot because I remember distinctly that Meth's Tical album was one of them and Mobb's Infamous was one of the others.
When I got the Tical album, that's when I figured out the whole Wu thing. I think it was the Mr. Sandman song I heard RZA's voice on and I said to myself, "I know this cat! Who the fuck is that?" I put the pieces together and realized it was Rzarector from the Gravediggaz album. I had to go through all the liner notes in the 'Diggaz album and Meth's album to figure the Wu shit out. When I realized the connection I instantly ordered up the 36 Chambers album. Not long after this, the Liquid Swords and Cuban Linx joints dropped and I was hooked forever. Even had a buddy who sent me some Wu videos which I remember being a summer day that was just like Christmas fucking morning for me.
When I went to college I finally discovered the whole internet thing and linked with this cat named Jon Book who ran a really nice Wu site with all kinds of news. He had me hyped to death for the "Valentine's Day Massacre" album that eventually became "Wu-Tang Forever". It just grew from there. I read everything I could about the group and eventually, because of the idea behind the logo that Mathematics created, got the Wu-logo tattooed on my right shoulder. During that time I was really caught up in it because Forever, Heavy Mental, Ironman, Pillage, Silent Weapons, Pick Sickle and Shovel, a lot of shit was coming out.
As for the name I use on this forum, it comes from two things. I loved the whole concept behind the Wu-Gambinos, how they all had alter-egos that worked together so I made my own up. Some of the guys used their real names, so I did that. My middle name is Edward so that's where the Eddie comes from. Also, I remember reading The Source, they had a big article about Wu when Forever was coming out and RZA was talking about future projects in there and mentioned a song called "18 Bronzemen" and that it was going to have 18 Wu emcees on it. I was so pumped for this song, but alas, it never happened. But that's where the Bronze comes from. So Eddie Bronze is my self-proclaimed Wu-Gambino name.
So that's kind of my Wu-story.
Wu Forever!
