straight lyrically, GZA has Rakim. But in every other aspect of MCing, Rakim is better.

all you people that are voting for GZA, get off his dick you Wu-tang huggers

Rakim has been eating dudes up lyrically since the 80s, even with shitty beats (much like GZA) Rakim has still remained on top
GZA dropped one good album and you know it.

huggers lmfao man GZA has been at this shit the same amount of time as Rakim and that goes for destroyin cats too, all you have to do is listen to Liquid Swords to see his skill

and Beneath the Surface and Legend of the Liquid Sword and the Grandmasters album no one's dick ridin

bar for bar gza has got him matched and he excells at much more shit and i'm a Rakim fan but i'm just being dead honest about this

most people only say Rakim because alot of emcees call him the GOAT

Beneath the Surface, Legend of the Liquid Sowrd, and Grandmasters = booty
    rakim:
lyricism, flow, delivery, wordplay to this DAY, even when he was on Aftermath ("R.A.K.I.M."), how musically versatile is that?
    gza:
lyricism, wordplay.. his flow, delivery died when his boyfriend rza couldn't handle production anymore

    rakim allah spits on gza
gza is a washed up nerd rapper now
all albums post-liquid swords are UNLISTENABLE

now that's what i call hate to the fuckin fullest especially if you think at the least Beneath the Surface sucks, honestly none of those albums you listed were really that bad to me, Grandmasters could of been better

how much versatile is Rakim? I've never heard him drop a songs like Labels, or Animal Planet or Queen's Gambit

and by the way we talkin about LYRICISM lyrically GZA excells past Rakim IMO

i'm waitin for one of ya'll cats to post up something that Rakim has spit, let's see why he's so great

and that comment about RZA being his boyfriend, that's just gay man fuck is your problem?

24/7 son, and i'm this forum because i admire Wu for who they WERE, rather than what they are now (sellouts, homos, scammers)

here's a little rakim quote for yall
"Yes yes y'all, I still fiend by any means
to flow, and I go through extremes don't intervene
My adventures show like a three dimensional screen
Cause I mention many things and I'm presentin many scenes
    Guess I'm telegraphic, motions energentic
Better tell em forget it, cause I'm telekinetic
Crowds is screamin, I choke the mic and keep squeezin
Styles seemin like I used a thousand words without breathin
Bustin techs like Russian Roulette, I doubt you win
Freestyles like hand grenades, without the pin
Composin, then leave the mic full of corrosion
Don't test this, or best to expects this explosion
At shows I spit flows with seven deadly venoms
Killin syllables with poisonous synonyms in em
Ideas is blowin, mics is blowin
from what I'm showin, see it, I keep it goin when I'm flowin.."

two examples of lyrics better than that:

Out of fear of the deer watch for the eye of the tiger
The Clutch from the Cobra and the venomous viper
    Boa-constrictors that cut your circulation
Mosts of their prayers die from broke bones and suffocation
The owls are private eyes that watch from the bark
Black panthers are the militant who strike in the dark
Porcupines had a rep' for sticking everything that moved
In areas that the rhinos and hippos approved
And the giraffe was a look-out for gorillas in the mist
And the bats use their sonar to guide and assist
Those pelicans who smuggle contraband for the whale
While the skunks spray the scent to keep the dogs off the trail
The scorpion set up a sting for sly foxes
that use stool pigeons just to keep them in the boxes
While the black widow laid a web for the bachelor
like daddy-long-leg and his hype man, tarantula
They both prey on grasshoppers beetles and flies
And they all become instant meals the moment it dies
What costs little, is a little worth
so some lose they lives wandering on the wrong turf
From birth they grow up walking the thin line
    It's like the jungle sometimes

    and

It was the night before New Year's, and all through the fuckin projects
Not a handgun was silent, not even a Tec
Outsiders was stuck, by enemies who put fear
and blasted on the spot before the pigs were there
You know hoods robbers snipers new in sight, fuck blue and white
They escape before they flashin the fuckin lights
Gunshots, shatter first floor window panes
Shells hit the ground and blood stained the dice game
Whether broke callisthetic, any style you set it
Beat niggaz toothless, physically cut up like gooses
But with iron on the sides thugs took no excuses
Therefore, your fifty-two handblocks was useless
Links was snatched off necks, scars on throats
Jackets took, after bullet rips through coats
Against those who felt the cold from the steel made em fold
and squeal, once the metal hit the temple of his grill
Construction worker, who was caught for his bomber
No time to swing the hammer that was hangin from his Farmer's
And it's bugged how some niggaz catch slugs
and pockets dug from everything except check stubs
and it does, sound ill like wars in Brownsville
Or fatal robberies in Red Hook where feds look
For fugitives to shoot cops, niggaz layin on roof tops
for his CREAM he stashed in a shoebox
But he was hot, and the strip was filled with young killers
you don't suspect, so cops creep like caterpillars
And born thieves stay hooded with extra bullets
those who try to flee they hit the vertebrae, increase the murder rate
Similar to hit men who pull out Tecs and then
drop those who crack like tacos from Mexican
Rapid, like recipients cashin checks again
Back to the motherfuckin spot on Lexington

    like i said son,
lyricism will earn you some points in the game, but not the win

GZA has become unlistenable, especially in that 1st verse it's like listening to an oprah commercial (yes Beanth the surface, + rest of albums)
the god Ra has stayed ILL and listenable regardless

Ra has gotten better over the years, GZA has declined - and it disturbs me that you wu-huggers haven't noticed it

it disturbs me that you don't understand the point of this thread WHO'S THE BETTER LYRICIST!!!!!!!! lmao goddamn

GZA's voice on Grandmasters gets unlistenable at points but it's still good

and on Legend of the Liquid Sword he is completely listenable

Rakim hasn't dropped anything serious since 99 so the joints he puts out have some decent lyrics but they ain't all that and don't show the diversity he shows on albums

and i'm not a goddamn wu hugger so stop trying to call me that and show ya point, why is Rakim lyrically better than GZA?
