    I know this isn't the "right forum," but NO ONE checks the wu-latino section and once this gets answered the thread can be locked, moved, etc.

    Did the wu-latino mixtape *really* go platinum? I can't imagine it really did, is this just a skeevy marketing scheme? Is there anyway 36 or Cilva or Swordsman can confirm this? Sorry if this has been answered but I haven't seen anyting about it (and I am quite the lurker).

    yo if you're gonna move my shit, answer the question. why the hell isn't wu-latino communication with the people who run THE OFFICIAL WU-TANG WEBSITE? and why are they lying about going platinum??? that's like a guy saying he's not a virgin so he'll get more chicks.

    Well the Recording Industry Association of America does NOT have them as either Gold or Platinum-selling.

    ^^^yeah exactly. but at the same time i'm not sure if RIAA counts mixtapes, and RIAA only lists things when they review the sales. there are platinum/gold albums that riaa doesn't list cuz they've never reviewed them.

    funkmaster flex is in the database with 3 gold albums.

    also the RIAA doesnt give out plaques based on OTC(over the counter) sales, they give them out based on shipping numbers.

    furthermore, qualifications for gold and platinum are based on population so its gonna be different somewhere else.

    yeah, keyword there is "albums." his mixtapes are professionally-done, fully-packaged CDs with barcodes and everything official CDs have making them different from the $5 CD you order from some mixtape website.
