this is a really hot album, I liked it first time I heard it and still love it.
never really liked it...but that Everything-Beat is fire
421 is a dope album to me. All of the RZA produced tracks are mad dope, especially the intro, Konichiwa Bitches and Presidential MC. Walk On with Redman is my shit too. However, I wish he would have stuck to Erick Sermon & RZA on the boards because some of the other beats on there are trash. Overall a solid album, though.
with a bit better beats I would have given classic. Mef did his part like he should, nothing to complain.
Did my own personal review on this album just for the hell of it. Let me know who agrees or disagrees.
Methodman 4:21 The Day After
1. Intro 5/5 (great start to the album over a Rza laced track)
2. Is it Me 5/5 (love this track even though kind of commercial, Mef shits all over anyone who ever rhymed over a Stroch beat.)
3. Problem 4/5 (Lyrics are good, Sermon beats seem to be too repetative anymore)
4. Somebody Done Fucked Up 5/5 (This track is straight fire, nuf said)
5. Shaolin Soldier Skit
6. Fall Out 5/5 (Mef delivers properly over this beat)
7. Dirty Mef 5/5 (It nice to hear Dirty and Mef together, cant get enough of it)
8. 4:20 5/5 (Probably my most memorable track on this album, reminds me of the first Tical album, refreshing to hear Carlton Fisk again on a Mef track)
9. Let's Ride 2/5 (Not a fan of this track, usually skip over it, doesn't sound like it belongs, kills the albums flow)
10. The Glide 5/5 (Wordplay is great, straight Wu, love the ODB sample on it)
11. Kids skit
12. Gotta Have It 5/5 (always bump this track in my ride - just like it, like the sample)
13. Say 5/5 (first heard this in Hawaii at the end of 05 and thought it was great)
14. Ya Mean 3/5 (nice beat, could have done without Fat Joe and Styles P, not a great track but whatever)
15. Konitchiwas Bitches 5/5 (Great)
16. Everything 5/5 (Great)
17. Walk On 5/5 (classic Mef and Red wordplay)
18. Pimpin Skit
19. Prresidential MC 5/5 (what Wu fans crave, this track is hot, Rae sounds a bit lazy but still lyrically on point)
20. 4 Ever 4/5 (Like this track because it reminds me of Mef and Mary J on You're All I Need)
Overall I love this album, have not taken it out of rotation since I bought it.
Peace
Its nice to see that some people found replay value in it.
I think you gave out too many 5's but if you play it as often as you say you do then thats that. I think I would give it 3.8/5 on average
The only disappointing aspect is how it was released considering it was an album that Meth fans want and he rebounded from The Prequel but it wasnt recognized.
To me its an album to pull out every once in a while...if I happen to graze over my record crates and see it at the right time.
I hear you Prolific. Thanks!
Funny that the best tracks on the album are RZA produced. If only he did more...
I like this album better than Judgement Day and Prequel. Second to Tical. Altho im not a big fan of Tical either so that doesnt say much
listened to it agian recently, i definitely like a fair few tracks off, so i'd give it a 7/10.
exactly..it always seems the case of Rza beats that shines..i like this album alot..nice feel
And I'ma remain in the scene and reign supreme and go to many extremes by any means
