This album is on the level if not better than Liquid Swords, I don't understand why heads front on this shit here, i mean, the only drawback is that there are too many skits, but the skits are pretty cool in their own right too.....this album came out in 1999 too!!!!! this is in my opinion a modern classic, I'm just puzzled why noone even MENTIONS it when they talk about GZA.......

i totally agree. i think it's his best album even though all his albums are good in their own right. this stands out 4 some reason.

We need to get one thing straight and that is that Liquid Swords won't be matched. Beneath the Surface is so underrated it's a great piece of work.

True on that. Love GZA and his albums. Liquid Swords and Beneath the Surface are on their own clouds thought, in my opinion. Both GREAT albums. But Liquid Swords is my all time favorite. Not shitting on Beneath the Surface at all. 9.5/10.

Sure, Beneath the Surface has alot of skits, but on Liquid Swords, there's all those audio clips from movies or whatever built into the song. At least on Beneath the Surface you can just skip the track instead of having to fast forward to get to the song.

For me this is Gza's third best album I think liquid sword and legend of the liquid sword was better. But this album is fucking dope. I think Gza is amazig on this and the beats are of the hook. I give this album a 8.9/10
