Nah, the threadstarter was correct. It's "left some jewels in his skull that he could sell if he chose." Nas lines are often subject to pretty open-ended interpretations. He's either saying that he left some nuggets of wisdom that he could pass on or he's saying he could exploit the wisdom he's giving him ala 10%ers.

If you watch the movie Belly they act out that scene from that verse towards the end of the movie. He puts some actual jewelery in the kid's coat pocket.

Yeah its obviously a metaphor for him knowing he has some jewels of wisdom in his heart or mind or whatever to share. But to say if he chose is that he doesn't necessarily have the ability to use them or understand that.
