    put these tools to use

    http://www.thesimpledollar.com/2006/...e-for-windows/

What follows is a list of thirty pieces of software that are the cream of the crop of open source software for Windows. Not only is every piece of it free, almost all of them directly replace expensive software packages.

well Ive tried nothing that LOOKS better than windows, but Unix and DOS do have their advantages....but for a home/personal computer, I dont know...I guess there might be some or attempts to make some.

i got a mac. Pretty good, can't play any games so that sucks but apparently they made something to fix that so expect to see me on cs source in upcoming months. It's a pretty nice machine, looks sleek and the guy from Waiting keeps telling me about all this photo editing stuff i can supposedly do. Plus it's alot harder to get any kind of viruses or spyware so that helps. But as far as illegally downloading programs, you're basically cut off.

After all this downloading, you’re going to need to blow off a little steam, and I’ve yet to find a more enjoyable free game than this one. It’s basically a third person combat game, but the graphics are spectacular and the game is quite engrossing.

I have. It was a requirement for my survey of OS's class. Basically the whole class was based on comparing operating systems.- What do you need to know?
