Life After Death is too mainstream to me and i don't listen to it. Ready To Die is his best album because that album is so hardcore and gutter.

I don't see this as classic, comes very close though. There are many classic songs, but also some very subpar songs...

Personally, I don't think there is any filler on the album. The Lox song is the most useless song on there. He just expanded his range to show that whatever you wanted to do, he had it covered. His flows were incredible on every song, not just the killer slow flow from ready to die. He really stretched himself as an artist. Classics don't necessarily not have filler. All eyes on me had filler on the second disk, but people think that's a classic.

That's the whole point of the title. Life after death. People made money, I'm living. I can't be ready to die any more. It wouldn't be real. I think he grew by leaps and bounds as an artist. I gave it a 5. You can listen to it now, and it doesn’t sound like 97. It is the blueprint for music that's going on right now. Not flawless, but classic. It changed the way that people made albums. Not as seamless as ready, but a truer picture of whom he was as an artist.

Its a solid album, 7.7/10, but it ain't no classic, how you gonna come out and estbalish yo self as the most hardcore rapper in new york wit ready to die, then be singing on your next lp? Its full of good tracks but it ain't no classic.

I've got to disagree here, I don't think that's the right attitude, sorry.

Life After Death for me is in some ways superior to Ready To Die. As a narrative Ready To Die was probably better and the flow was more smoother I'd accept that, but Life After Death truly showed everyone what B.I.G was capable of.

It was funnier, it showed more range, different paces, different kinds of beats, more subject matter, more variety, so he sang? So what? So have most emcees at some point. Put simply, it showed growth, people don't like that. It seems that in rap an artist is not allowed to grow. You can't be Ready To Die twice and that's the key here, especially with millions in the bank, a new born baby and all your dreams accomplished.

Whatever though, it's all opinions. They're like assholes as they say, everyone has one... etc. etc.

c/s. Big had better lyrics,flow and production on LAD imo. Also stepped up his story telling skills. 10 yrs later,commerical rappers are still using that LP as a blueprint.

This Lp was trash, it had a few good tracks, then some wack shit like that jay-z song, that song wit too short, and a few other tracks was trash too. On ready to die you couldn't find one track that was below good. Ready to die>>>life after bullshit

I'd say this is a 8 or a 9. A few mainstream songs that I skip but the rest make up for it. Somebody's Gotta Die = crazy ass story.
