10 years ago, there was a store that advertized they would have Duke Nukem the next week. The very next week I woke up early and was the first and only person at the store. After looking around for nearly 15 minutes I had to ask the cashier where my Duke was at and he told me I was going to have to wait another month. A month later I was at the store again claiming my goddamn Duke Nukem and they couldn't give me an exact date, so I asked if they could give me a call when they really have it. Never heard anything from them again.
So possibly, in a couple of years, I'm going to get a call from this store and they will tell me "Sir, we got your Duke Nukem Forever game" and I will reply "Duke?" "No Duke lives here, don't you ever call this number again". Then I'll hang up the phone and put some more cherry tobacco in my pipe after adjusting my stoma and watch reruns of the A-Team with my grandchildren.

yeah man, 3D realms really fucked up with this one. plus, recently they lost about half of their developers to other companies.
i remember playing Duke3D against my friend over the modem, we had a 3 1/2" floppy disk with the illest custom maps, including my personal favorite, dn_mansion. do the knowledge infinity!
