gears of war update on wednesday

The cat is out of the bag - various sources are now reporting that we'll see a slew of Gears of War free content this Wednesday, January 10th (Australian and Kiwi gamers will get the content a day later due to time zone differences).

Here's what we'll get:

• Map - Raven Down: A Raven Helicopter has gone down in the middle of a large scale battle with the omnipresent Locust Horde. Gears have taken out the Seeder and gamers join Delta Forces moving into the crash site from all angles to search for survivors.
• Map - Old Bones: In an attempt to eradicate any traces of human history and culture, the Locust Horde has emerged under Sera's Capitaline Museums and has begun to destroy them brick by brick. Each gamer's mission is to help the Delta Force recapture the museums before all remnants of humankind's existence are obliterated.
• Video: An introductory video by Mr. CliffyB himself.
• Patch: According to Joystiq, Mark Rein has confirmed that a patch for the game will be rolled out ahead of the bonus content. No word on which fixes made it into the patch at this time.

Of course, all of this is free - no need to break into that stash of Microsoft points.

i hope in the patch they fix that stupid shooting while running glitch in multiplayer. well annoying.

Damn, the stupid patch made it so you can't see the host's name in ranked matches when you are chosing a room. I guess no more playing with friends.

They also fixed the chainsaw glitches and the grenade tag distance.

Found it:

* Fixed aspect ratio distortion when using VGA cable with 4:3 displays at resolutions higher than 640x480
* Fixed voice issue with new players joining Player Match games in progress
* Players can now get the Achievement for "Dish Best Served Cold" when using Troika turret to kill RAAM
* Fixed rare situation where host could loop countdown and never start match
* Fixed rare situation where players could get stuck after chainsawing in multiplayer
* Reduced Grenade Tag melee distance
* Enabled "Strict" NAT check on host to prevent possible connection issues
* Optimized server browser queries to return results more quickly and prevent scroll bars from hiding quality of service icons
* Reduced number of possible revives in Execution to match Warzone
* Removed host name from Ranked match server browser
* Disabled security cameras in Ranked matches
* Ranked matches now require balanced teams (3v3 or 4v4)
* Increased penalty for quitting a Ranked match to -50 points
* Added additional cheat detection code
* Additional housekeeping updates

Yeah that patch kinda sucked, you can still find your friends you just have to do a weird ammout of rounds on a map no one likes lol

This patch has ruined Gears a little..

More connection loses during games - especially the connection issue where it asks you to quit the game by pressing "B" in-game, more people unable to host games, more people unable to join invitations, and to top it all off, more high latency issues!

Most of the updates were unimportant.. the Roadie Run glitch is still working as well
