i seemed to have missed this one durin' my brief hiatus, but i'm glad to 've come across it... like everyone else who commented, i was awestruck by the visual realism displayed in this poem... y'know, it's kind of funny how this kind of "unmentionable" tragedy happens on the daily, yet we all turn a blind eye to it, unaffected, until someone puts it into an artful perspective... we watch this shit on the news and it's so cold and impersonal... inhuman... it takes a hell of a lot to be able take the time out of our busy days to actually care about someone or somethin' enough to write somethin' movin' about such a barbaric event... and i think it's important to snap people out of their blissful ignorance long enough to recognize somethin' real... somethin' that could 've or should 've been prevented had someone intervened... who knows...
great piece...

You read beyond the lines and delved into the social implications of this piece . There are too many untold stories just like this and the greater community must be held accountable. Knowingly, or unknowingly we all suffer while these issues are unaddressed... Realize with real eyes

Float Like A Butterfly...
(Dedicated to my son Cassius)
divine subsistence, transforms my whole existence,
so surreal, character's forged from the persistence
heart beart thumping loud as a freight train
spitting blue flames from full tank of hi-octane,
propelling my mental to astral plains,
where oxygen stings nostrils, like un-cut cocaine altering mindframe
immersed deep into heart of woman,
reaching Gates of Eden, sensual & pleasing
pleading, slow down to hold the moment
bodies writhe, mesmorised,
passion overwhelms my flesh cries,
far beyond the skies a comet flies,
see its reflection in her eyes...
bathed in perspiration, felt my seed reach destination
effortlessly flowing past boundaries of imagination
deafening silence, senses reel, as rain saturates a sacred hill
CHORUS
human life grows within you,
from a heartfelt embrace into flesh, journey continues
home fires burn, the world turns,
head bowed the grown man discerns, a king returns...
earths cycle changed my queens appearance,
celebrate as parents, draw close to time of suns presence
we come as one into this world, all interconnected,
essence of life dissected
harness strength of will & toil to benefit the collective
CHORUS
whispering spring night
held hands & summoned spirit guides who channeled light,
to aid the fight for breath of life
my spine shivered, in the background a silent serpent slivers,
my hands quivered, fate delivered our surprise,
cloaked in the beauty of a holy sunrise,
mystic woman blessed him as he rose,
from out the throes, with life force of a volcano
knowing smile levitating above the globe,
glowing from outta brains lobes
CHORUS
looking upon his noble face, erasing pain from I,
moved to tears as third eye, overloads with stimuli
held my prince high, baptized in an ocean blue sky,
sun shone on my cerebri, defied mortality,
realise visions of ancient scribes
a child, holy vessel of sacred bloodlines...
Taste fulfilment without regret, for in next breath,
undetected figure scales a parapet
seasons shadowy silhouette, spinning faster than a pirouette,
your necks wet...spoken word sparks a flame,
alighting mental cigarette, too late for tourniquet
terminal torrent of alphabet inimitable style you cant forget
tip my hat & ride a winged unicorn into my own sunset
only to be born again,
brand new...floating like a butterfly from its cocoon

I just read the first piece in this thread, but I'm gonna try to read through this whole thread over time. You have a very strong writing style. I've seen people try to do what you do before, but fail. Your writing comes off as being very natural. As I read it I found that if I became distracted and missed something, I actually found myself going back and re-reading those lines. Not that I lost interest. Just that I'm at work and there are distractions here. I haven't read much of your stuff, but it's certainly some of the most worthwhile stuff to read that I have encountered here. Powerful words and strong imagery when describing a picture. Great reading. Keep it up.
