Default A Long Hot Summer is mixed horribly. and overrated.

Sure, its a refreshingly honest album, but it is overrated. The voice is way more dominant than the beat, and is slightly annoying. The lyrics are not exceptional, the beats were either dope or mediocre (hit or miss). Many of you said that this album is your G.O.A.T album and I am like damn, just because you feel sorry for the dude doesn't mean you have to overrate it.

ImHo Masta Ace's A Long Hot Summer is as good as Killah Priest's Black August (his 3rd best).

i agree to a certain extent. Its not classic by any stretch, but its very solid. Masta ace is a refreshing emcee and alot of the beats were very well done. I dont know about the mixing to it. Id say 7.5/10, maybe 8.

Masta ace bit eminems flows though. Listen to sslp then listen to this album. I saw an interview where ma admitted that his album was heavily influenced by eminem. I dont mind that much, since he was honest, but its a little bit of nibbling.

i agree about the hit and miss ... it does have that in some aspects ... but it was still a nice album ... alot better than most of the shit that dropped that year ...

it was one of the best albums in 2004, the only one I liked more that year was MK's No Said Date

but still, I don't know, only two beats are not so good as the rest IMO

I'm not saying its a bad album, its just that a lot of y'all claim its a classic, when I see a lot of other albums that deserve that kind of respect this album gets.

def classic, beats are savage, great lyrics and concepts and very cohesive(even with all the skits) as well as a hell of a lot of replay. i still bump on the regular and will do so for a long time,

the mixing is fine, i dunno what your talking about.

as far as the album, the concept is sustained well and the beats are dope mostly.

    probably 8.5/10
