The thing that makes it worse now is that number one, its more recent and we feel the reverberations and number two, technological innovations have given certain Europeans a huge advantage over the rest of the world, and they are still trying to catch up.

Everyone heard the story at one time it was Europe who were living in caves and the rest of the world were the ones who were "civil". I must put that in quotations because I am referring to the standard of living. In other words is it really power people are striving for when they are poor or is it a higher living standard at the end?

Europeans then wanted spices and silk, etc. and knew how far they had to go to get it. On land you need to go through many territories and go through deserts. They had wood so they decided to build ships and bump around the shore and hopefully get around the problem.

Along those ways they find Africa and the minerals they have, and also bumped into America along the way trying to find another route.

From South America they brought back many varieties of plants such as tomatoes. These more varieties of food suddenly available made better diets which further increases a living standard.

Therefore the reason why white people want to take shit over probably is because they believe they can make it better. And by better I mean more prosperous as well as make wealth for themselves. That doesn't mean they were always right...we can all give examples of where they were wrong. Sometimes it results into an area being stripped of its resources (stolen) but at one time no one knew how resource bases worked....but people know now.

There are many ways to tell the history of everything and thread it all together. But it is true that physical and human geography and origins play a bigger role in the outcomes while race and culture is the overlooked counterpart in the explorations and culture clashes.

But I agree with the main concensus, as a race, we don't have a good track record. "Whites" is a bit unfair though.

I just picked up that book today along with Stephen Hawkings "A Brief History of Time." Can't wait to dive into both.

nice, post what you think of it when you have read it. im not going to lie, like all books there are some parts that are a little dry but just get past those and there is a wealth of knowledge inbetween those covers.
