Although PE were one of the first rap groups I listened to back in the day, Wu made more of an impact on me, one that has lasted for over ten years and still going strong. PE for me was a revolution in the late eighties/early ninties, but they weakened significantly during hip hops peak of the mid to late ninties. Although wu was accused of falling off, they retained a legion of followers and countless imitators. wu-tang is the ONLY group in hip hop that other rappers wanted to be a part of, I don't even rap or anything else within hip hop and even I want to be affiliated with them, that just shows their impact for me.

Good debate. As much as I have love for PE, like Tauro said, the influence from Wu has been flowin through my veins for mad long years, and I can see it still going on for a long while. PE still gets spins till this day though and you know it's still relevant.

Also, I don't see myself postin on a PE forum like I do here.

I'm with you OTB, my earliest memories of hip-hop was my dad playing PE to me when I was like 3 haha. I grew up with them, most influencial group in hip-hop history I think. By that I don't mean everyone was biting them, but the influence they had on society. Walking around now I still see guys 40+ rocking a Public Enemy t-shirt. They had a massive impact on what a lot of people thought, they scared a lot of people too. Without PE, would we have politcal MCs like Immortal Technique and Sage Francis?

But yo, Wu-Tang is just more new-school. They aren't trying to do the same hing as PE, PE is preaching a lot about change and unfairs that go on.. Wu is just telling stories from the streets, it's hard to compare. Two different genres, both are brilliant. For me though, in time, PE will go down as the better group, purely because as time goes on Legends grow.. A lot sounds out dated now, but back then it was fresh as fuck.

I still laugh that PE used to open shows for the Beastie Boys lol

Chuck D dropped better lyrics on PE albums than what you'll find on WuTang group albums but the solo Wu albums like Liquid Swords mean that lyrically the Wu could be level with PE in their own way. Wu beats are a whole lot better than Public Enemy beats, or as Dr.Dre called them, "sound farting"!
    The outcome is critical
