    Average.

The only track I listen too is "Still Drreaming" which is one of the best songs I heard in a long time. Incredible track! They definetely should have made that a single. Black Republicans was cool. But outside of that, this album is very forgetable.

Pretty wack in my book, I just couldn't get into it at all (and I love Nas). Black Republicans is the only joint I like on this otherwise luclustre effort.

    3/10

I've came back to this review about 5 times and I still haven't voted, I was hoping it would get better if I listened to it again.
I couldn't really get into it from first, second and third listen.
BUT, since I put the album on my iPod I appreciate the songs a lot more, I think it's because I put it on shuffle so I'm no listening to the full album in one go and when a song off this album comes on I can really listen to it.

I didn't like the fact that Will-I-Am was on 'Hip hop is dead', this track should have had Rakim or KRS1 on it. Putting Will on there was really showing us why Hiphop is dead. (Maybe that was Nas' idea)
Also I wasnted to be blown away from the JayZ colab but the track was only ok.
All in all I still enjoyed it. 3.5/5

this album is a 3.5 to me. Nas is pretty bland on this album and his usual story/concept tracks are at their worst. still a collection of some pretty dope songs (where are they now, cant forget about you, hope, still dreamin').

I seriously think this is Nas best LP aside from illmatic + It Was Written. No skippable tracks IMO, I still listen to this album a lot.

edit - Oh and I rate it 5/5

    2.I Am
    3.Stillmatic
4.Illmatic (phenominal lyrics with terrible beats)

See... most people know whats up. Anyone who says this album is whack is obviously one of those rap fans that wont let go of the 90s.

The beats are hot and Nas's flow was correct... period.

^^^^^^It can't be a 5/5 because the lyrics could be a loooooooot better. Not all, but some? Yeah...

And LOL at the guy saying Illmaic has terrible beats and saying Nas has only four good albums, lololol....

Ok at first i didnt like this album that much for the same reason why I dont like most albums, the beats. I didnt listen to it for like 2 months then I listened to it again. Guess what? i like it alot more now.

The beats were my main issue with the album. Nas was on point as usual.

The track that had the biggest turn around for me is "Carry on Tradition"
I love the beat and Nas comes correct on it, very true depiction of hip hop

I was always a fan of "Who Killed It?" even though alot of people were weirded out by the funny voice I always thought it was cool.

Hold Down the Block + Let there be light + Play on Playa + Hustlers, all good tracks, i felt like the guest spots were all on point on this album, espcially The Game who lays down an ill verse about deciding between "The Chronic" or "Illmatic" when he was in a record shop back in the day

I just had to quote this

I have never heard ANYONE say that illmatic has whack beats.

the only knocks i heard about illmatic is that

    A) its too short

    B) the production was TOO GOOD and that its overrated because of this

very intresting to hear someone say this
