Should the US and other countries stop importing products from China?

China keeps exporting a lot of crappy products and goods. Some of the goods are harmful, and even fatal. Yet the US keeps importing crap from China. Only about 1 percent of these goods that are coming into the US are thoroughly inspected. Yet, of that one percent that is actually being inspected, a lot of Chinese products and goods are being found to be to be hazardous. Maybe the US and other countries should stop importing anything from China, until the Chinese start to follow guidelines, and stop making garbage.

some conscious people don't buy things from China. You would think that it would make the products less worth of importing but that might just drive the prices down even more.

No, China isn't the only culprit. But they are notoriously known for not following the guidelines. And new incidents of harmful and faulty products coming out of China have been happening all the time lately.

How bout we start making our own shit and demand homegrown products so we don't have to go anywhere for it? (I think it should be that way first, whenever possible)

On the flip side, all the sales for work clothes I get at Dillards are imports and usually from somewhere in southeast asia, china or otherwise. cheap labor=cheaper prices. some don't really have a choice in the matter of not buying there shit. In that respect personally stopping will help to balance things out. I don't believe that its possible to completely stop imports or even good for that matter.

The quality of Chinese products isn't that bad. Most companies who have their production outsourced to countries as China, have people there who check the quality before shipping. And the competition with other Asian countries is tough so Chinese products get better and better. The Chinese government realize that western companies could move their production to India, Korea and even eastern European countries if the quality is below par and the their entire economy depends on western countries.

The quality of Chinese products aren't that bad, compared to who? lol Well the people that are in China checking the quality of their products must not be doing a very good job. Cause there have been a countless number of incidents where crap is being shipped over to the US, especially in the last year. I'm sure a lot of pet owners aren't to happy with all the dogs and cats that were seriously injured and died this past year, cause of China. China probably doesn't really care too much though, since they like to eat dogs and cats, and anything else that moves.
