I just used it with a random googled image.

You click the button and a small window pops up where you insert the url and it shows http://<insert url here>

perhaps it needs to be a jpg image or something.

I think its easier to just put the tags in manually.

havent a clue why it wouldnt open. the only thing i can think of is that is the most powerful editor available here that has it. if the page is loading slowly (due to other images in a big thread and/or the animation on the side) then it might not pop up right away.

Pro could have a point that the page isn't fully loaded when you click it. Anyway that can happen with the search tool etc.

I also used to have problems with my pop-up blocker blocking the insert-image-window.

It should be one of the two. Or that it is you browser that can't handle it fully. One of the three...
