    Default Beastie Boys- Paul's boutique

This album is so fucking fresh. It is the definitine example of dope sampling. The album was produced by the dust brothers and they are impeccable here. This was the Beasties second album, it flopped and everyone hated it when it came out (after it followed the extremely commercial Licenesed to Ill). Today it is considered to be one of the greatest albums ever (consistently makes those silly top 100 lists VH1 and rolling stone publish) and for good reason.

Seriously, my mind keeps returning to the sampling. This album could not even be made today because it would cost millions upon millions to clear all of the samples. "The Sounds of Science" has the MCs flowing over The Beatles "When I'm 64" for christ's sake! The songs on here are so crafty and different. It is a rare instance of a mainstream hiphop group putting out two classic albums back to back and totally deflecting the sophomore slump. I would take this album over illmatic, the chronic, OnlyBuilt4.... a lot of albums fall under this one. As Chris Rock put it "its one of those albums you buy any time you don't have it with you".

Yeah that's right. I'm the egg man. Driving around. King of the town. always got my windows rolled down. Too dope....

yeah this is a great album, i still think 'licensed to ill' is their finest hour (minus the one aggravating single), but this is definetly fresh, the use of samples is dope, along with '3ft high and rising' this influenced a lot of 90s cats styles of production, and its great that its such a departure from their debut, it was probably what they needed at the time.

Rick and the beasties should reunite, anyone?

Fuck ya, Pauls Boutique has definitely got to be up there in the top albums list, presonally though I was really feelin Licence To Ill over this one. All of their albums are pretty consistent, Ill Communication, Hello Nasty, To The 5 Boroughs....etc. For me though Licence To Ill & Hello Nasty FTW!!
