    Default the end of recycling?

is it too early to call the recycling / environmental movement a failure?

is separating your garbage into plastic and paper a unnecessary obstacle at this point?

    im sayin:

since the early 90s ive been trained to approach trash with a distinguishing eye
and like a good citizen i did it

    but
the polar bears are still dying
    melting snow
    oil running out etc

at what point is it the smart move to abandon these surface / lip service acknowledgments to good 'environmental intent' and instead focus on other things?

also: at a certain point - does it not make good sense to exploit, rape, and exhaust a society that is founded on raping, exploiting and exhausting?

if this way of life is killing the planet - cant we kill that way of life using the same approach?

    eat more?

I like the feeling that I economized when I take my empties back to The Beer Store.

In grocery shopping I like No Frills' prices but I hate paying the 5 cents for the plastic shopping bag. Even though I can reuse it a few more times before there is a rip in it. Those new enviro bags made from recycled plastic bottles are good material and they last almost forever and cost only a dollar! If it lasts longer than 20 of those yellow shopping bags I guess its worth it.

The point is that everyone has to do it, otherwise it's pointless.

it really seems pointless right now

    everybody is not doing it

and even if they do do it - we still have to count on the shit being handled properly

    which it isnt

plus - all the fuel used in processing this shit just fucks things up even more

how did we get sold on this recycling nonsense in the first place?

i know a lot of people got rich off it

^^That is such a cynical way to look at it..........by that train of thought no positive scheme could be set up because someone is always bound to benefit from it.

actually it is true sometimes that the fuel to produce the recycled product doesnt always add up.

containers need to be rinsed...with water in the process. Either throw it out and conserve water or use water to clean and recycle.

    i wouldnt go that far

we could always put a stop to mass production
    or
    switch off the electricity

i dont even know what cynical means?

does it have something to do with accurate?
    honest?
    concise?

i never put much hope into the whole human race changing their ways. no matter what, people will deem certain actions, in the face of logic, stupid or worthless.

Mainstream recycling hasn't been going on all that long yet, like has been stated. The postive and wide scale effects won't be seen overnight, it takes time. I forget the exact statistic, but millions and millions of barrels of oil are used each year in the US to create those cheap, crappy plastic bags that are used in a lot of grocery stores. Most people just throw them in the trash afterwards. Wouldn't it make more sense to cut down on the production of those plastic bags and create bags that can be used over and over?

ever think what it would be like without the limited recycling that does go on? what if the millions of newspapers that were printed daily were thrown out. what about oil and tires? cans?
in my city we have a garbage truck and a recycle truck. everyone recycles something round here.

i think some of it is that recycling is not such a novelty anymore and is more of a behind the scenes thing. \plus most of the stuff we use has a percentage of recycled material in it so it has to have had some effect.
