I usually start with www.drudgereport.com because it has a good mix of headlines, scary shit, and funny things you wouldn't usually see on the front pages (largest baby ever born, chessboard killer, etc.)

Then I check out reuters.com and cnn.com.

Yahoo! news is kind of a last resort.
