You must listen to this album, the production is good and the stories are dope. Can't Stop is the only beat I don't like but the verses make me not skip it. Classic flows. Hommage paid to Deck on "Trouble". "PNC For Life" is a vibing song, my personal favorite. Joell Ortiz delivers the smackdown on "Stomp".
imo, a bit disappointing. Stomp, Movie & I Can't Feel My Face - personal favs.
Gangsta Prayers gets ruined by the horrible hook. Beats is overall on point, but I don't think they always brought it lyrically. Nice to hear Opaque on Can't Feel My Face. Loudmouf Choir - dope! =)
This album reminds me alot of their "Rude Awakening" album under the Cocoa Brova's moniker.
It's that mellow/melodic/rainy day type hip-hop that goes down perfect when your driving through the city in a cold winter shower. I like this album alot. 9/10
i'm basing my opinion on only having listened to it once, which i know i shouldn't do. i was disappointed with this album, because i don't think their new formula works for them. i'm sure if i gave it a few more listens my opinion would change, but that's where i stand for right now. for that reason, i will refrain from giving it a rating for now. the Stomp joint is dope though. Joell kills anything he is featured on.
the debut album: Better 8 Than Never NOW AVAILABLE!!!
8/10, a couple of the beats don't elevate things but NOBODY-- repeat: NOBODY-- has aged as well as Tek & Steele... the rainy day driving analogy is a good one, as these dudes are often quite subtle (go back to "Bucktown U.S.A." on Cocoa Brovaz if you don't know it so well.) for what it's worth, this destroys the last two Jay-Z album on probably 1/1000th the budget & ANY Saigon, ever... it's not even their best album either but as one more step along the way, with the BCC stuff riding with 'em, it's pretty essential, at least if you want to hear the streets sound of ** Brooklyn **.
I just watched Stomp video with Rock and Joell Ortiz and I like that. I didn't like the album because of the beats. It's sad how they've disappointed me with their albums after the classic Da Shinin.
