Default How Steve Rifkind signed Wu-Tang to Loud (the 1st time)

So how did you sign Wu-Tang when Protect Ya Neck was first out?

Our street team guy in Detroit was a college DJ and he found the Wu-Tang record. It was my 31st birthday and I was in New York. RZA showed and up to this day, I still think I was set up. He showed up and he was Prince Rakeem at the time, puts on Protect Ya Neck and this kid comes busting through the door and goes, 'That's that s*it that I was talking about.' I was with E Swift from The Alkaholiks and I said, 'What the hell is going on?' But next thing you know, we have a deal. The rest is history.

Well actually, Cappa was one of the original 9 (not 10). Cappa was locked up during the early recording sessions of the album and didnt come out until 95, thats why he never appeared on NONE of the tracks. U-God was around for the early sessions, thats why u get to hear him on "Protect Ya Neck", was locked up somewhere in the middle stages and he was later released just in time to get on one song (the last song recorded for the album) which was "Mystery Of ChessBoxin". Masta Killa got lucky because there was one more spot for the "ChessBoxin" song. It was between him and Killah Priest. Thats how Masta got to be the 9th member of the Clan (which originally was Cappadonna's spot but he got locked up).

Just imagine how things would have changed if cappa was around and we would have never heard of masta killa. And U-God being on more songs; that album would sound different.

Who knows maybe if Cappadonna was on the album it would have been better, however it could of made it worse, but unless someone has a time machine, and can go back to an alternate time line, and get a copy of Enter The Wu-Tang 36 Chambers were Cappadonna was on the album we will never know how it could have been.
