Classic album, no motherfucking doubt about it whatsoever. Mos Def has to be one of the greatest MC's of all time to ever grace a mic, whatever you want in a rapper, he brings it; flow, intelligence, wit, presence, charisma, respect to the art form, and straight ruggedness, all of these aspects are shown on this incredible piece of work.

From start to finish it doesn't lose a step, even when he takes a break to soulfully chill out on "Umi Says" and "Climb" or to rock the fuck out hardcore style on "Rock N' Roll". I have no idea how anybody can disrespect this album, what more do you people want? Either way, for the eleven years it's been out, it still holds up strong as a true, bonafide masterpiece.

Just to add, I saw Mos Def yesterday and he absolutely rocked the place, guy is just incredible. He only played "Hip Hop" and "Umi Says" from this album (it was his Ecstatic tour, after all), but it was still an amazing performance.

    Peace
