I think its great, but by no means perfect. All the songs are great, except I dont really like poisonous darts or marvel. Those 2 bring it down a bit for me.
Another thing I don't like, the some of the songs kinda sound throw together, not finely placed onto tracks. Daytona 500 would be better without the singing at the begining and if it faded out instead of just ending. Like some of the songs just go into each other and don't really seperate or even fade into each other. And it just has loads of little things I don't like.
To me it's 8.5/10, that would be 9 or 10 if the stuff I mentioned didnt exist.
It's great but I don't think it flows well as an album just a collection of great songs IMO
Yeah, that's part of the reason I don't think it's classic.Originally Posted by Fraz_2oo5

classic, not one bad song
guess i'll have to pull ironman out of my stack and look for these blemishes..i've never noticed them before. i can't get over some saying that Marvel brings the album down! in my opinion, that RZA beat is in his top 10 of all time...there are so many elements that make up the beat...its genius in its multiplicity, and i think its fitting that after rza's verse it just plays for like three minutes. the flutes, voice sample...damn. that was RZA at his pinnacle.
so to me production isnt weighed down with any deficiency.
what about the MCs? Ghost is the same as he was on Cuban Linx, as is Rae and Donna. and then everyone contributes, save GZA and Dirty...Meth, INS, RZA, U-God...only thing is that Ghost is absent on two tracks, and because of all the guests, he doesnt really establish himself as he would later on Supreme Clientele. that's the only criticism i can fling at this cd...

ballistic, i'm with you 100% about Marvel

I dont know, for some reason listening to Ironman isn't the same as listening to Cuban Linx because Ironman's whole vibe. Songs like Poisonous Darts, Box in Hand, Camay, After the Smoke is Clear, they just don't strike me with greatness like every song on Cuban Linx, mainly because of the beats. They're great songs, just Ironman has a whole depressing feel to it.
No GZA doesnt help either
Overall 9.25 out of 10
Iron Man is so god-damn soulful. Thats when RZA really started the whole soul-sampling shit that is so popularized today by Kanye West, Just Blaze, and HeatMakerz. Yea he did it b4 that on songs like "Can It Be All So Simple", but Ironman was the first time he did it on nearly a whole album. That's Ghostface at his best, when he's given a track inspired by soul music. Tha's what makes Ghostface's music so emotional.
The Holy Temple Is The Mental
Ironman is a great album
IRONMAN is my favorite WU TANG cd...........
It's a dope fucking album. Not really in the same regions as OB4CL or Liquid Swords, but still a very nice album crafted by Ghost and the RZA. Awsome featurings by Raekwon (of course), Cappadonna and the rest of the Clan. Easily a Wu-classic.
