Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z is planning to further expand his chain of sports bars by opening a further five 40/40 clubs in cities on both sides of the Atlantic.

"The Big Pimpin'" rapper - real name Shawn Carter - is keen to build on the success of his venues in New York, New Jersey and Las Vegas, which had its grand opening last weekend (December 30th, 2007).

And it is claimed the star's eagerness to spread his own brand awareness was the main reason for quitting his post as President of Def Jam Records last month (December, 7th, 2007).

A source tells the New York Post's gossip column PageSix, "Jay is focusing on opening five more 40/40 clubs.

"He opened Las Vegas on New Year's and up next are Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, London and Houston... He just didn't have time to be president of Def Jam."
