Default Sly & The Family Stone

i don't know if there's already a thread on this but...

This is one of the greatest funk bands or just greatest bands ever. period. After two days of listening to There's A Riot Goin On and Fresh non stop, i have decided this. Every sound on every song is perfect. Sly's voice and organ playing are immaculate. Of course amazing basslines and guitar. Who else digs them?

sly is one of the baddest motherfuckers ever. there's a lot of great funk bands, but the best funk album = there's a riot goin on.

most people don't know this, but Sly and them are the originators of funk
James and George and them were singing ballads and doing R&B then Sly came and showed them all how to be Funky - He even influenced Miles who predates Sly

Listen to the Whole "Stand" Album and check out a song they got on there called "Sex Machine" You'll see

james brown released "papa's got a brand new bag" in 1965, two years before sly even released an album. that's not funk?

    but, yeah, stand is awesome.
