Default Ruff Ryders - Ryde or Die Vol. 1

    1 - Ryde or Die - Lox/DMX/Drag-On/Eve
This track had a nice beat, classic type of posse cut, they had to put X on last really 3.5/5
    2 - Down Bottom -
    Drag-On/JuvenileHas a beat like a song from Rocky 3.5/5
    3- What ya Want - Eve/Nokio
Dull track, bad hook too 2/5
    4 - Jigga my Nigga - JayZ
Another bad hook, guess what Jigga rhymes with 3/5
    5- Takin Money (skit)
    6 - Dope Money - Lox
Dope money to rap money back to dope money, I really doubt thats true 3/5
    7 - I'm a Ruff Ryder - Parle
R&B track that lasts too long, I can listen to it but it keeps shouting, "I'm a Ruff Ryder" in the background so we know it's hood. 2.5/5
    8 - Bugout - DMX
Needed some DMX again, goofy beat but track is only 1:20. 3/5
    9 - Kiss of Death - Jadakiss
OK beat - basic lyrics 3/5
    10 - The Hood - Drag-On/Beanie Sigel/Mysonne.Infa Red/ Nu Child/Jadakiss
Same old shit again, guns and knives, but still listenable 3/5
    11 - Platinum Plus - Jermaine Dupri/Ma$e/Cross
Not a Jermaine Dupri fan, Ma$e sounds board on this track, party track 3.5/5
    12 - Buff Ryders (skit)
    13 - Do that Shit - Eve
Much harder track from Eve, chanty type hook 3/5
    14 - Pina Colada - Sheek/Big Pun
I like this beat, not as 'fairground' sounding as Swizz Beats usually are. Pun even mentions Wu on the track 3.5/5
    15 - Some X Shit - DMX
X doing his 'talk all quiet and shy' then shoutin all rugged again, like it though 3.5/5

    Usual Swizz Beats type production
Sounds a lot like "And then there was X..."
    I'd give the album a 3.5/5

Theres a gay ass pic of the Lox in the cover art. (Had to be mentioned)

all 3 of em are garbage and get worse ... 1 is the most tolerable to listen to ... 2 is good for TWO tracks ... 3 deserves an 0.5 rating

    i give it 2/5

True about them getting worse, haven't heard the 4th yet, No X on it I think.
I bought them years Ago when I was really into DMX.
Put all three in my car today to review them when I have a chance.

LOL@The Hound hahahahahahahahahahahaha. You're right. Ryde Or Die song is my jam and The Lox's lyrics are funny. Props to them for sampling EPMD's Headbanger song.

This dropped twenty years ago today. What Ya Want and Jigga My Nigga were inescapable Summer jams that year.
I personally loved the street tracks Ryde Or Die, Dope Money, Hood and Some X Shit. Was the best of the Ruff Ryders' compilations.

The roster should've been limited to The Lox, DMX, Eve, Drag-on. Everyone else was wack. I agree with what someone posted above. Each compilation got worse. Vol. 4 only had that one decent track with X & Jada and even that was ok.
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.
