There isn't a certain time when the Middle ages started, it's not like the people decided "hey. today be the Middle Age", no it's just that most of the modern historians tend to use the fall of Constantinople as the start of the Middle ages. And Back ontopic, Reneissance is a cultural movement which started in the LATE Middle Age (16-17 century-ish)
