it feels like priest tried to reach out to a broader audience with this one and parts of it made me real dissapointed ("do you want it", "robbery", "rush"). the album has mostly good songs though and even a few real great tracks (mainly "black august", "time", "the rain", "big world"). the weakest Killah Priest album I've heard (haven't heard priesthood yet).

    Overall: 7/10

    Thumbs up

i like priest ever since his verse on liquid swords.. then on to heavy mental......

but when i heard this and the revisited album, i realised just how good he is.

5 no doubt .. look at these lyrics....

    My pen's a crayon
    with coloring books, displayin' chaos
The black seyance, with the ink pores radared
Age quasars explorin' where the mind caves are
A riches being dug from a kings graveyard
It's the inscription written on Egyptian clay jar
I write rhymes like I'm doing time
Listen, when I hit the pen I start doing the sentence
I got the flow locked behind each bar

Ok, For some reason I can't get through this album... and Digi Snax just dropped, I'll have to balance my time between the two, I'll have a review by Tuesday....
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.

Ok I Finally got the time to listen to this album over a month period...

    1.Black August
A nice Intro, the beat is mad hot and Priest is dropping it mad hard, he still has the ability to spit that hot shit and drop Jems at the same time, I love the hook on this joint also. 4.5/5

    2.Excalibur
The name of the track describes the track, he just goes in on here and rips shit, the beat is kinda slow but I like what he does with it, I think he should've left out the hook and just said a few words or just spit throughout the whole track, but he still rips it...
"It's Priest standing in his greatness
Gods favorite I rock the star like King David
    My Queens baby
I walk past they start waving
    Each arm a thousand bracelets
    Face it I'm the greatest
Made women drunk from a royal fragrance
I rock the latest in fashion
    My jewelry flashing
In other countries they can hear my magnum
When they blasting I heard it sound like thunder clapping
    Hit u in your stomach
    Watch u start gagging
Who gives a fuck if your platinum
If your lying in the wood casket for good now that's hood"
He comes hard on this whole joint. 4.5/5

    3.When I'm Writing
This a cool joint right here, a little fast tempo beat that sounds nice, lyrically Killah Priest is on fire, I like the hook on this joint aswell, he just spits good on here, nothing else to say. 4/5

    4.Time
This is a normal Killah Priest joint right here, hood tales right here, beat compliments the theme of the track real well, i like the singing on this joint aswell, Savoy came correct. 4/5

    5.Robbery
I get the theme of the track, actually this joint is pretty ok but average material, I like the hook on this joint aswell, it depends on my mood, this joint is actually ok though. 3.5/5

    6.Come With Me
This joint is cool, nothing too special Priest is taking niggas on a rides on this joint just peep the lyrics
Yo, enter with caution it's the hood dark and haunted
See those crackheads with dead eyes their souls been torment
Look at the old man throwing up his body organs
Smell a odor in the air cause of dead corpses
Just keep walking keep observing I'll do the talking
This is the hood they don't visit often
This is the war after nuclear war end
And this is your schools old ruins no more babies
Because the law that they passed at the UN
These the blueprints of the world they plan to ban music
Let the camera crew and the news in
They got the right to hear this
This the truest and the realest you'll ever get it
.... He came correct on this joint.
    3.5/5

    7.Musification
This my shit right here, I love the theme on this joint, and the beat
is real nice aswell, Priest paints the picture real vivid for his fans it just crazy how he goes in

Picture me on a black cross
    Black crows near both arms
    Blood dripping from both palms
And I'm squirming cause the salt in my wounds are burning
Tossed from the womb of virgins
I seen it all, medical room with surgeons
Read it all in the KP version
I look down, people spitting and cursing
Everybody quiet listen to the sermon
Record execs dressed like Romans, piercing my side
    I go into convulsions
Staring straight into a jet-black ocean
Three times I heard the rooster crow, cats I used to know
Deny me but now use my flow
You used to feel my tapes, my eyes search the crowd for a familiar face
All being persecuted for purchasing the music
Feel like the works of a Judas
All cause they wanna hurt my movement
While crooked lawyers gamble at the foot of my cross
My spirit leaves to the hoods of New York
I see streaks of lightning, angels with white wings above me
Flapping across the skies, they thought I'd die
Till one of them heard my cries....
    Easily 5/5

    8.Big World

I first heard this verse in a freestyle so I like this joint alot, Priest
comes correct, and I like the beat not something i'm used to hearing,
but either way this is a great joint. 4.5/5

    9.The Rain (Feat. Main Flow)

When this joint first came on I was like what is this, but when the beat
dropped, I knew Priest was gonna start rapping fast. I never heard Priest
spit midwestern before so I was kinda nervous, but he came correct, he
could've did better but it was dope for what it was, and he explains his
struggles on this joint, Main Flow comes correct on here even though it
sounds like he's just tryna flow, he has some ill lines though, one of my favs
    on the album. 4.5/5

    10.Deja Vu

I understand the concept, but i'm just not feeling this joint like that,
it's cool and all but damn lol, I was getting lost at first then i realised it
was the exact shit over and over, nice concept though. 3.5/5

    11.Rush

Honestly I don't know what the hell is this shit, beat is garbage
Priest doesn't even sound right on this one, this was a complete miss.
    2/5

    12.Goodbye (Feat Bliss)

This joint is fire, the beat is Dark and they both go in, one of the few
females that can come correct, she did her thing on here, Killah Priest
is ripping shit to shreads. 5/5

    13.Do You Want It
    .................. 1/5

    Beats - 3.5/5
    Lyrics - 4.5/5
    Overall - 4/5

A nice joint, but from what I read this isn't how the album is supposed to be,
i think it's a banger though, Priest comes through lyrically, beats are good
here and there, but there are some bullshit tracks on this joint. "Do you want It"???
    come on Priest. ****Overall 4/5****

Anything by priest is unreal. His lyrical style is the best in hip hop today, especially with his ability to tell stories and put you in the scene. This isnt the best priest album but i definitly dont skip any tracks.
