    Default Soul Windows

this isn't gonna be a real breakdown cuz i'm unsure of alotta shit in this verse from Bronze..it's deeply esoteric but also his vocals are a little low so I can't decypher some of the words..

so i'm basically throwin this up there so Bronze can clear some shit up at some point..

this is a feature he did on a song with a cat named M9..B's verse begins at about 2:45

Pop schemes for knot clings, my name ring bells
shot scenes thru my lens ring, the rails (?) was held (?)

i could be way off but i think "knot clings" might be clothes..

Plans will swell like the wisdom teeth, my queen make bail
back at piano classics, elite street bastard
Gunmen they killed my cousin, flee the scene, clear Mount Hades
air out waves, three fiends grumblin', no stain on pant legs
Man be endangered species, plans damaging teams dreams
Sip the purple straight from the ????, ??? the homicide rate
fame chase like vodka, improper lane change
Son of a Thomas Jefferson slave down in V.A.
clips of madness, poison sips, spliffs, and sad riffs
I built this booth out my pain where dark is massive,

^^i like this last line...seems to be sayin he built the booth outta the money he made from his music (his 'pain') but it's also saying the darkness of his pain is "massive" meaning not only is it large but it's thick like matter (dark matter) so he crafted the booth with solid bricks of darkness...that Black Day in July shit..

caskets lined with tragic newspaper clippins
Words burn in the mind like it was branded on the temples
crackheads, pissy mattress, syringes re-invent you
I'm programmed to survive against all odds,
by any means if that means pennies from fiends
Never sleep even in the field of dreams
squealin' teams get the ceiling beams

    ^blasted in the face with a 2-by-4?

lay in ground parallel for C.S.I. teams
elders shake they heads lookin at the rushin bloodstreams..

It's all one big sports metaphor. There was a baseball movie called 'Field of Dreams', and Bronze is saying even though he has his own dreams that he's chasing, he cant sleep and ignore the realities of life around him while doing so. 'Ceiling beams' refers to how some legendary players have their number hung from the rafters when they retire. In this context, he's just saying those who squeal will be forced into early retirement by him.

What I love about the Wisemen's lyrics is the choice of words. Something so simple can make a big difference in the imagery and the interpretation. For example, in Chambers of Four, Bronze says 'uterus clanging on a pole' to describe a stripper. For something to make a clanging sound against a metal pole, it would have to be metallic itself and hollow. In just that one line, I get the image of a stripper who is empty inside and has become hardened to the world around her.

    GREAT point....

i also took that line (and I assume u do too) to describe him fuckin the girl too..."dug deep like how my lines dangle in ya soul"

i wanna type up somethin for Chambers of Four but that's another one where i'm so unsure of alot of it...

    Default Chambers of Four

this is mostly going to be questions cuz this track is extremely esoteric and alotta times i'm not sure whether the way i'm interpreting something is way off or not...

pretty sure the title is referring to the heart which has four chambers..

    Bronze Nazareth
    "Chambers of Four"

    [verse one]

Yo, these amped up niggas throw they words like curves

in baseball, the curveball is a finesse pitch that requires serious skill to throw effectively..almost artistic skill, so i'm interpreting this as referrin to emcees that get all amped up and SKILLFULLY throw darts ("words")....i could be wrong, but launching a dart with the arm action of a curveball is a pretty sick image..

secret nights we stole mics, treasure maps and furs
Fierce pen, felony on my table I clean my dishes and
niggas in those projects peddle drugs to the fishermen
Morphine, wet snort, X, Cialis (???)
while I walked straight lines it seemed I never had a balance
We bout to rob all dem, shit coulda brought home thirteen
Chill man, the pussy make u think when you cum clean

^^the last line is a double-meaning...bustin a nut inside a girl makes u think, makes u stressed out n shit like "damn, am i about to have a kid?"...
but it's also a sorta inner convo and struggle with himself: first he says "while I walked straight lines, it seemed I never had a balance" so it's like he's tryin to move thru life righteously but keeps findin himself in the street shit (most of the song seems to be saying this)..
so after that, he's giving u the mindstate he was in right before pullin a robbery---first he's all hyped and ready to do it but he thinks, damn later on when he's chillin with his woman and confessin ("come clean") about the shit he's done, it's gonna really gonna make him reflect on it...

    Illuminate skeletons, burglarize ya residence

this line is fuckin CRAY-ZEE...this one line basically sums up the entire song (and embodies the inner struggle i mentioned above)..
"Illuminate skeletons" is a superb double-meaning, metaphor line..these dudes are immensely skilled with these double-meaning-lines...
-it could mean to enlighten ('illuminate') the mentally dead ('skeletons') which is basically Bronze's approach to his art, trying to uplift with his lyrics..
-but it could also be giving u the image of shooting somebody, illuminating their skeleton, lighting them up with hot lead..

using the first meaning, the line refers to him battlin with himself over whether to pursue a music career or criminal shit..gotta eat somehow...

I'm at Eastern and Burton cookin up the wrong substances
Niggas in the park see my fingers trim the cartilage

not sure about "trim the cartilage"--could be like he's negotiating somethin like the deal in the next line:

i'll give you twenty for a brick or banana clip cartridges
That's not how I live but bricks bags around me
in the bathroom baggin up nicks, they never found me

this next part totally loses me:

An old settler shop-lifted meals to grow better
walked thru that crackhouse the smell made me black out
Drunk my first bottle coulda ate the glass,
I was so gone, it seemed like the sky was fallin fast
I ground like the plant tho, don't even sweat it man
I'm in the midst of a war versus my left hand

Bronze is left-handed ("I'm Southpaw we could get out, brawl/or be peaceful take these jewels and teach too") so i think the line is reflectin his struggle over whether to write or hold a gun (or knife)...

    [verse two]
Sort like black box, like funerals only for Black Sox

this one's tough...i capitalized Black Sox cuz i think it might a baseball reference (like the 1st line of verse one) referring to "the Black Sox", the Chicago White Sox baseball team full of gamblers who purposely lost the World Series in 1919 and most of them got banned from baseball for life...wiki link

not totally sure how it's being applied here tho..

matchbox cars I push it like it was ours, pop
Ultra hot uterus, clangin on the pole
dug deep like how my lines dangle in ya soul

awesome line, crazy image with multiple meaning such as Noyz suggested a few posts ago....

Sellin' hope instead of my iris sittin' by the scope
in a fatigued-down war within the city ring ropes

one of my favorite parts in the song...fuckin awesome wordplay and imagery here...
u start to realize when looking closely that the theme of the song is his struggle in life with trying to put out his music and enlighten and uplift ("sellin' hope" to) ppl with his message--or stayin within the grimeyness of the streetlife which is a warzone sometimes in Detroit

the visual of him fatigued out lookin thru a gun's scope is sick....read that line over again..it's ridiculous..

Hungry days, Ramen noodles bought by the cave
I'm richer my mental picture's worth a thousand freed slaves

INSANE line...(might be "I'm rich AND..", not totally sure)..

really awe-inspiring line..it's a play on the saying that a picture is worth a 1000 words but he's saying that his "mental picture" (his ridiculously artistic and poetic thoughts, which are VISUAL as fuck alotta times--as evidenced in the lines in this song) could free a thousand MENTALLY enslaved ppl...
there's much more to it of course but I'll let u soak it in yourself...

Back to fam in PM, she dancing with three gems

"famine PM"? would probly make sense too....not sure about the three gems part..

Jewels enter men easier than blades enter skin but he ain't listenin

^yet another awesome line, again summing up the song's theme..i'm lost for the rest of it tho:

    Tattooed arms with smoke blastin
rose to darkness like a young leafo(?) Jackson
mega sides pluggin his heart full of cholesterol

could also be "mega -cides" like homicides and suicides..

Shots in his headrest spun around like reciprocal

u really gotta reflect on these lines deeply in order to approach their meaning...
this could be referring to him having been exposed to shootings, and with this inside his mind ("in his headrest") he then lets out the same thing and behaves like what he sees or what's in his head...that's how I see "spun around like reciprocal"...the shots come in his mind and then spin around and go back out..

    Named his blade "crusade disintegrate",
smoked like he had Scarlet fever, street renegade

not sure about the first line...but the second one is sayin he smoked like he had some kinda disease and he knew he was gonna die soon..

Declare Michigan is fertile for crops of Dead Flowers
where swords stay as poisonous smoke for burnin' towers
Made me think tho, money came like water from a sink tho
Needed that cash but the cameras saw me blink slow...slow..

    gonna need this part explained...

PEACE!! I was asked by Silencer to break down the lyrics for my verse on Daylight, So imma post the lyrics and let some of ya'll take a crack at it then i'll come thru and finish it off. PEACE! 100

    DAYLIGHT, Kevlaar verse:

Dug a grave in his brain/ Blood stained his memory/
    He lay lonely/ His only/ soul forgiven/
Prison his dwelling/ until the shells started swelling/
    Heat concluding/ Once abused his/ windless lungs/
Confusing his journey between dirt and the sun/
Nameless men cleanse/ his hand of his gun/
A cage of obscene birds let free in the dusk/
Live boots run by/ vultures calling his bluff/
Waiting for the moments/ His life is frozen/
    Atonement/ Face stoned in/ The scavengers wind/

    a final breath/ Until embalming begins/
Calling the shadows his home when the daylight ends…

Just my 2 cents on some of the Bronze lines:

"secret nights we stole mics, treasure maps and furs
Fierce pen, felony on my table I clean my dishes and
niggas in those projects peddle drugs to the fishermen"

I may be wrong with this one, but I get the image of Bronze comparing his crew to pirates or European settlers that are ready to take over wherever they go, whether through rhymes or drug sales. The others trying to compete with them aren't even on the same level (just 'fishermen')

"Morphine, wet snort, X, Cialis (???)
while I walked straight lines it seemed I never had a balance"

This is a crazy double meaning. Some of those drugs he mentioned are put in lines and sniffed. He doesn't have a balance between walking the straight and narrow path, and selling drugs ('straight lines'), and constantly at war within himself.

"in a fatigued-down war within the city ring ropes"

Dope boxing metaphor. He's at war, whether with others or with himself, and is becoming tired of it. Like that one interlude on the first TFF mixtape mentioned, if you're stuck in poor neighborhoods, the cycle propagates, so as long as he's in the ghetto he feels the war will continue. He's trapped within this environment and has to fight, and feels limited by it like a boxer stuck within the ring ropes.

Kevlaar's verse on Daylight is a difficult one to break down. It's very poetic and has a lot of vivid imagery, but I cant really get a grasp on the whole story. My interpretation, and I'm probably wrong, is that he's describing a guy who went to jail for some violent crime. When he's inside, he's had time to think about the grief and the loss, and wants to change his ways, but when he gets out, he's being tested by the same people ('vultures calling his bluff') and falls into the same traps.

peace, off to dinner but here's my quick take on it:

He shoots himself, in the head
Goes to heaven, angles removing the gun from his hand
Is sent down (that would be after the vultures calling his bluff)

Maybe I'll add something when I got time!

    My thoughts are

Some sort of act of violence is always on his mind, prison is his dwelling meaning always in and out of prison, till one day a shootout(?) happens and he gets hit(Heat concluding), and once abused his windless lungs as in hes dying but he smoked which confuses his journey(smoke blinding the way), angels come and remove his gun, and the last half seems to be the body and souls journey into the underworld of sorts

    Default squintin at "Daylight"

i'm gonna take a shot at this but i find this joint pretty tough to crack..i'll look at both Kevlaar and Bronze's verses cuz i'm unsure of stuff in both..

both of them are describin the scene of a man dying in VERY poetic, metaphorically visual terms...but u gotta read closely to understand exactly what scene they are painting..

i could be way off in my assumptions of what both verses are saying and thus my whole interpretation would be wrong but I'm gonna take a shot at it anyways...

    "DAYLIGHT"

    [verse two: Kevlaar 7]

Dug a grave in his brain/ Blood stained his memory/
    He lay lonely/ His only/ soul forgiven/

this first part i take the same interpretation that Ya Bane does, that he's describin a guy committing suicide, "dug a grave in his brain" is a reference not only to him shooting himself in the head, but also to the fact that he'd been thinkin it over and basically dug his own grave inside his mind, planned his death..."blood stained his memory" would have the same double-meaning: shootin himself in the head, the blood sorta splashes onto his memory so to speak---but also he's had a blood-stained memory, like alotta crazy shit that he's scene that scarred him and prepared him for this..

after that, he's layin on the ground with his life fading away and "his only soul [is] forgiven"...that's a deep line

Prison his dwelling/ until the shells started swelling/

not sure of this one...could be that (IF he committed suicide) it's saying that he's been dwelling in his own depressed prison....not sure what the "shells started swelling" refers to..

    Heat concluding/ Once abused his/ windless lungs/
Confusing his journey between dirt and the sun/

his body heat is starting to fade away as he's slowly dying..even tho i might be off on the interpretation of it, I always LOVED this "once abused his windless lungs" line, shit is beautiful..

the second line is tough and i've thought about it alot but I'm not totally grasping "between dirt and the Sun"...i could see maybe sayin that he was smokin alotta weed or tobacco and that's what "dirt" is referring to but then for the Sun, i dono....tough one

Nameless men cleanse/ his hand of his gun/

could be referring to angels...or just the image of the dead guy layin there and some random dudes taking the gun out of his hand after they've found him..or both

A cage of obscene birds let free in the dusk/
Live boots run by/ vultures calling his bluff/

a cage of birds being let free in the sky seems to be some heavenly image, like the guy is now dissenting into death and the afterlife...dono what "live roots run by" refers to but the next line is like the vultures are startin to fly around the dead dude and lookin at him "calling his bluff" like wonderin whether he's really dead or not yet..

Waiting for the moments/ His life is frozen/
    Atonement/ Face stoned in/ The scavengers wind/

gettin closer now to death and the end of his life, atonement or "at-one-ment" with God as his individual life passes away....his face is starting to fade to stone, to gray cold lifelessness as the scavengers (ie vultures) approach..

a final breath/ Until embalming begins/ Calling the shadows his home when the daylight ends…

one last breath, an exhalation, and now he's done--body gonna be embalmed and prepared for the casket now...where "the shadows" are gonna be his home now as he's placed underground...

the next verse has been bogglin' me for a while...i've listened to this shit a thousand times, know the words by heart--but I'm pretty much completely stumped as to what exactly is being described overall...first it seems like the image of a body that's been dead for a while, then that of a guy who's at the moment of death ("staring at the stairs of heaven"), then he's talking about "us" and i dono if it's the pall bearers or what....

    [verse three: Bronze Nazareth]
Deep in skin, burgundy laced within

his blood is "laced" makes it seem like this is a drug overdose..

puzzle lights dim, hemorrhaged tissue underneath the brim
and skullcap, hiding deteriorated faded hair patch

seems to be sayin that his brain is hemorrhaging or bleeding badly from the drug overdose..

Cold abscess, eyelashes flare like boat crashes

alotta medical terms in this verse, this shit is seriously detailed...an abscess is a collection of pus that accumulates in an infected area, so in ths case i take it that it's referring to the area where this dying character injected himself with a needle?

and his eyelashes are flaring, blinking like crazy and his body is buggin out cuz it realizes it's an emergency hence the analogy with a boat letting off flares..

Skin resembles cells of broken glasses
He's frozen his timin', diamond Rolex

his skin is ridiculously pale and kinda looking shattered like broken glass cuz his veins are lookin all nasty from what he just injected himself with...the frozen line is just like Kevlaar's "his life is frozen" line, in that his body is gettin cold now and his life is starting to freeze, the hands of time are about to stop, ice cold.....just like the glittery watch he's wearing (?)

Those who watch the soul divided from the physical essence,
realize without both eyes the crows came for collection

the witnesses to his death KNOW he's dying, they can feel it---they can sense and feel that his body's expired even if they weren't looking..

Starin' at the stairs of Heaven, the brain's dead end
weak veins turn to ash, the rigidest to capillaries

the first line might be the best in the whole song....second line (i think) is referrin to his veins and blood vessels deteriorating now and the strongest veins are turning to capillaries, which are the smallest blood vessels in the body...

Dosage varies for those who airborne float like fairies

i start to get lost right about now...i THINK it's a reference to the dosage of drugs needed for those trying to get high, "airborne" and float..which is what's led to this guy's death, an overdose...

His raw elbow lay in the basis of oppression,

his nasty, track-marked arm...his elbow which he just injected the inside of is just layin there in a state of oppression from having been abused?..

    zombie-like organisms whose symptoms exposed
now receiving bites from mice that been deburrowed

i always think this is describin whats goin on when he's already in the grave underground but that doesn't seem to make sense..

"zombie-like" organisms could be the drug-addicts and the symptom is death...

Knuckles right, tissues stiffen by the time we see light
this froze us, but notice how we walk, real pain

    need it explained...

Electrical message to the brain predict he'll meet Cobain
dormant until unknown lights told him the way home

a quick thought sparks up in his mind as he's just about dead, confirming it and predicting that he might meet Kurt Cobain, the heroin-injecting rockstar who killed himself....then he's just layin there until bright lights appear and he follows them "home"

His sixth sense sees his father writin ghostly poems
as he floats toward the underground, they plot his gravesite
The theater made a clouds, no chance for stage fright..

the visions of a dying man...some deep shit....his senses are all dead, no longer functioning but his sixth sense can see his father in heaven (or hell? underground?) and back on earth they plot where they'll bury him..

the last line is ill and could have a bunch of meanings but i'll leave it alone and wait for the intended meaning behind it....

Peace Silencer, interesting read (haven't read B's part yet).

Just wanted to say that I read that line as "Confusing his journey between earth and the heaven".

Canibus has a similar line on Handle The Heights where he says something like 'Sagittarius archer provides the ground force'.

    true...

and my other favorite emcee right now, Cormega, also Sagittarius:

"I'm Sagittarius, the archer, live breed
dimes leave keys to they apartment,
a sniper sees like a marksman
    heat of a arson,
yet I freeze ya mind like a breeze from the Arctic
    Seize like a narc blitz,
when on stage you feel weed u breathe out ya nostrils
YOU SEEK ENLIGHTENMENT, U CAN BE MY DISCIPLE"

from Therapy.....that's actually a pretty Bronze-sounding-ish lyric right there..
