I never flip that switch. I like the crunch of a snare. I've messed with snare drums since school and all I can say is the only time the shit sounds good turned off is never. Maybe if you are a heavy tom tom player and you are playing some jazz or something but to rock out without the snare turned on is beyond me. I cant hear it.

Once again though ... this is the sickest fuckin metallica album in ages. I dont think they would have ever done this with Jason.
Daney Carey from Tool turns his snares off often, especially on Aenima. I think he pulls it off great...

Thats because they have that ambient sound especially on Aenima. That album started their journey into sound like that.

I forgot about Tool when I said that having the snare off sounds good never. That does sound dope. I think I said something about if you are a crazy tom tom player so yeah - The drummer for Tool and the Drummers for PRimus are perfect examples of ppl that take full advantage of the snare drum.

Is anybody else still not tired of this album like me? It's one of the few new albums I enjoy listening to over and over again.

Only a couple a days ago I took this off my comp. I never burned it either. I bumped it daily till I put it away though.

It'll be nice in 6 months when I dig it back out.

    Solid album.
