Default "Ready to Die" vs. (your version of) "Life After Death"

Both of Notorious BIG's albums are considered classics by different people and both is a combination of hard-hitting murder joints with smoother R&B-flavoured shit. While "Life After Death" was a double CD (and obviously had more weak cuts) "Ready to Die" was good the whole way through.. But what if "Life After Death" would have been cut down to 17 tracks (just as RTD) - which album would be the winner??

in that case they are about equal IMO but maybe Life After Death got the edge. Biggie had evolved his flow even more and there were enough classics on there to forget about the weak R&B songs that Puffy made him do.

I still say Ready To Die. That album was raw, and for the most part had harcore east coast production.

Then again Life After Death had 'Kick In The Door'

^^ it was actually released a couple of days after Biggies death so nothing was changed. besides 2 joints the whole first CD is full of classic tracks. in interviews i heard it being said that Puffy almost forced BIG to do the wack cuts with R.Kelly, Lil' Kim, etc. and Biggie did it.. actually i think the same was for "Ready to Die" - if big never met Puff we probably wouldn't hear any songs in the vein of Juicy, Big Poppa, One More Chance, etc..

Yeah al this Rnb joints you hear from Biggie was al forced by Puffy. I heard this from people who knew him and he was a Real Hip-Hop Head who didn't want to do al that RnB stuff is what those people said.

I would still favour Ready to Die.

^^ "Warning" is a great track but I would put "10 Crack Commandments" and "Kick in The Door" above it. I love how the whole Ready to Die album is like an (partly fictional) autobiography of Biggie's life - from birth to lost kid; crime life; prison; sucess and money; depression and finally suicide and death.

i ain't even feeling Juicy that much, one of the weakest songs on Ready to Die IMO; the lyrics are fire but the drums and overall glossy production hold it back. I love the Pete Rock remix though, he should have put that on the LP.

    ^^^^

Lmao, Juicy is my favourite Biggie track. But yeah, I can understand why people don't like it cuz of the overall "poppy" production.
