no "Liquid Swordz" and "Cuban Linx"?? ...say what, those are the illest beats i've ever heard. this thread put the GangStarr albums in a whole other perspective though LOL.

yeah, yeah, yeah...there all wu albums except for one. i've listened to a lot of the so called "classic" stuff and for most of them i came away pretty unimpressed. there's a handfull of non wu albums i've listened to where is was impressed with the production.

^^ yeah "2001" is an incredible album, Dr. Dre is truly a genius when it comes to beatmaking. He re-defined the sound of West Coast hip-hop no more than 3 times (Straight Outta Compton, The Chronic, 2001) and I still believe he can hook up an incredible LP called "Detox".

below is a list of albums that I think has straight up incredible beats (it's not exactly a top-10 best of all time list though). Not suprisingly all of these albums are made with 1 producer doing all the beats or at least 80% of them - and that's how classics are made!

    Dr. Dre - 2001
    GZA/Genius - Liquid Swords
Mobb Deep - Hell On Earth
Pete Rock & C.L. - Mecca & The Soul Brother
Cannibal OX - The Cold Vein
    Diamond D - Stunts, Blunts & Hip-Hop
    Gravediggaz - Niggamortis/6 Feet Deep
    GangStarr - Moment of Truth
    Wu-Tang Clan - 8 Diagrams
Cypress Hill - III: Temples of Boom
De La Soul - Buhloone Mind State
